Bah, nevermind, I just figured it out. Sorry!

Hi, quick question. I have ObjectDock Plus, and by default, adding icons to tabs adds just the icon... just for fun I fiddle around with viewing them in different ways (right click > view > Names / Small Icons / Large Icons). Well, when I viewed as "Names," all of the icons had text below them showing the the name of the shortcut. The problem is, I now cannot make that go away. The text is always there now, even when I switch to different view modes. Is there an easy way to reset this s
Wow, thanks for the helpful advice, everyone -- I really appreciate it. Yeah, the farms were a mistake -- I got them because I wanted to increase my population caps, not remembering that it would send my economy into a tailspin. By the time I remembered to turn off my social spending, it was too late. Bad call on my part! I'm going to try to sue for peace, although I doubt I'll be able to, the Drengin have far superior weapons to mine -- I've seen them in the espionage tab. I'l
So I thought I had a technology victory pretty sewn up... I was all the way to Near Omniscience, which meant only two more stops on the tech tree before sweet victory. The Drengin and the Arceans seemed pretty content to lie back and do their thing, and my military was clearly superior, so I wasn't too worried. Then it all turned on a dime. An auto-upgrade to some higher-level farms wrecked my economy (in retrospect, that was my big mistake), and then -- the Drengin offer me a sweet tr
Call me crazy, but I don't understand why this is an issue, with the invasion options you get when you invade a planet. Mass drivers, tidal disruption, etc. -- this accomplishes precisely what some posters in this thread are asking for; it gives you a significant advantage in combat, destroys enemy improvements... So what's the problem? Is it really necessary to have a little animation showing some bombs dropping or something? With high soldiering and some mass drivers or tidal disrupt
I purchased my copy of GalCiv from the web site and downloaded it. If I were to resell it, the only way I could do so would be to burn the install on a CD. I'm not saying that's what this individual did, but it certainly is a possibility. ~SDC~
There is one reason I'm not on top of the meta. I don't have 24/7 and no life to play. I play just a few games (less than most) and I'm still in 3rd. Unlike some who have accomplished nothing real in their lives and need their ranking in a video game as an ego trip. I've nothing to prove.
Now that's comedy. You're in third place on metaverse, yet anyone who scores above you (both of them) must have "24/7 and no life tok play". You're very accomplished and busy in
This may seem like a simple question, and I'm sorry if it's been asked before, but is there a simple way to disband large groups of ships? When I have something like 20 or 30 Battle Axes and I want to get rid of them, it seems like an awful pain to have to select each one individually, then be asked if I want to disarm it, then have focus shift to another ship, repeat, etc. Is there a simpler way to band ships together or select multiple ships at one time for disbanding? Thanks a lot f
Yeah, the never-disappearing skull and crossbones happens to me too. Hopefully that's a bug that can get fixed at some point. ~SDC~
"Has anyone ever *been* the one that finds that artifact?" Now THAT would make things interesting. I don't mind the "your enemy finds the powerup that lets him win the game," but I think it would be fun to be the one who gets it -- and have to survive the war made on you :) ~SDC~
Personally I want to see a little "planet blowing up" movie every time I use the Terror Star, like MOO2 had with the Stellar Converter. If you got sick of it, you could skip it... but I never did :) ~SDC~
Nevermind, I figured it out... For future reference, if anyone else has this problem, if IE is set to "work offline" then Stardock Central will not work. You'll have to open IE and go to File > Work Offline to uncheck it. ~SDC~
I'm having a problem I'm hoping someone can help me with... For the past day or so I've been unable to log on to Stardock Central. When I try it says "Connection Error 1001" and that it cannot contact the server. It says to double-check my email address, etc. and all that information is fine... I have been using SDC from this location for weeks now and haven't made any changes to my computer. I've tried switching servers, uninstalling and reinstalling SDC... at this point I'm
I usually play medium sized galaxies; I've tried Large in hopes of having more space to myself and thus more colonies, and that has worked to some degree... but still not as much as I'd liked. ~SDC~
Okay... I've played a few games of GalCiv and have worked my way up to Normal difficulty, and I am just getting my butt kicked. I try to expand as fast as I can, but it seems like invariably the computer opponents always have tons of colony ships that get to all the yellow stars ahead of me, and I end up stuck in a little unproductive corner of the galaxy, with my economy in the crapper and the enemy demanding what little cash I have left to keep from exterminating me... So here's my ge
Yeah, I kind of miss the "declare war" option too. Of course, even more do I miss what I used to do in Civ II, which is to goad and taunt the enemy till he lost patience and declared war on ME. :) That way when I cleaned his clock, I ended up looking like the good guy. I love GalCiv but I wish the diplomacy engine were a bit more well-rounded. Right now it seems like pretty much a trading post. ~SDC~
Excellent! I hope they use that sweet cash to find a nice expansion pack or a sequel :> ~SDC~
Excellent. I hope legions of TBS fans take this to heart and buy the game :) ~SDC~
Yeah, I couldn't find Class #1 in the archives or anything either, it seems. ~SDC~
This is a cool idea. I should use this. :) ~SDC~
Yeah, I got something similar from the Altarians. I was building up starbases in their sectors and they contacted me diplomatically. They said, "Look, we know cultural conquest when we see it." I was floored... and delighted. :) And then I went to war with them and exterminated them from the Galaxy with my terror stars. But it was nice talking to them. ~SDC~
It looks like the latest version of the game fixes the Crazy Constructor bug. Whew! ~SDC~
Okay... thanks. I'm glad it's not just me. ~SDC~
Okay, the following is a screenshot from an early game of GalCiv on a small galaxy: http://www.dimfuture.net/galciv/galciv-1.jpg Note the green Torian manufacturing level on the right as compared to my own. Note that it's quite early in the game. Then look at that big old fleet of Constructors! This is AFTER they've already built two or three starbases and pretty much maxed them out... I was lucky to be able to grab just a tiny bit of resource for myself. My question
Your events are top-flight stuff. Great work, I've been enjoying them a lot. ~SDC~
