One easy way for me to determine if you're in the DX12 version is to go into the Benchmark section. If the 'API' says 'DirectX12', you're running the right one. jarredwalton , I like your workaround. Worked perfectly for me. Thanks!

Too funny. I tied Grey Goo and Act of Aggression as well. They were... disappointing. They are in themselves good games and if Supreme Commander and FA didn't exist they would be great... however, once you've experience SupCom, anything less involved is just.. lacking. Both of these games have potential but they are both on the same level as all the C&C-style games before them.. good for, say, 10 years ago, but not today. For a game to h

I'll add my support for icons as well. When implemented well (SC:FA) they really do work. I understand that graphics are what make this game shine but if you think about a real-world scenario, viewing a battlefield from a high enough position would lose any real unit definition and you would at best be able to tell what it is by its rough shape. With SC:FA, you get the added benefit of an icon: a simple image recognizable at a high altitude. You zoom in and you see
I know it runs in DX11 mode if I click on the Ashes_DX12.exe file. Not sure why. But if I use the steam launcher and choose DX12 version then it runs in DX12. I haven't tried it with a desktop icon which I assume would run Ashes_DX12.exe and run it in DX11. Is that what you are doing? Have you tried using the steam launcher?
Yep that was it. Launching from the Steam launcher addresses it. I had

I just signed up for the Founders program, installed the game and played. Gameplay worked but graphics looked nowhere as I expected. I went to the Benchmark menu item and found it was defaulting to DX11. No matter what, I can't get Ashes to run in DX12 mode. Even if I run the Ashes_DX12.exe directly I still get DX11 in the benchmark screen. System specs: Core i7-4930K (OC to 4.6GHz all cores), ASUS Rampage IV Black ed. 3

The merge worked, thanks! I'm able to access the Vault, and I got my badge. Happy happy, joy joy! Now I need to figure out why I can't run in DX12 mode, but that's a different topic.

Ok! I pulled the trigger and signed up for the Founders program. Got my key, got the game. Problem is, none of it is linked to this account (maybe because I used my paypal which is linked to a different email address or maybe because I wasn't logged in to my Stardock account? No idea). In any case, how do I get my purchase connected to this account and to my Stardock account, get my badge and get into the Vault? Thanks.

1. If I have to choose, I'd go with randomly generated but if at all possible, both. 2. Unexplored. You need to send units out to see what's out there. Same as it would be in real life. 3. I'm open to new ideas. Why not? As long as it's an option and you can turn if off if it introduces gameplay issues I can't anticipate. 4. Huge maps. As big as possible. It has to feel like a war, not a confined battle. This was

I'm with MojorDespair on this and for the same reason. I need to be able to save and resume a game later when I have time again so 99% of the time playing is spent VS computer. After that, I play the odd game against a friend. So, for me: 1,2
Frogboy, i have a few ideas about how to make it a war and not simply battles. We may should have to concept of battalions. This would be a large group of units / meta units flagged as being a battalion with and objective we would assign to it. For example : Capture and hold a specific position on the map. That would mean we would have the option of letting this battalion managed by AI. In addition this battalion could request by
I should start an entire thread on how the engine has changed the design (along with your feedback) some. But broadly speaking, we've had to distance ourselves from the Starcraft style because it just doesn't work. Even active unit abilities stopped making a lot of sense. If I have 5 different ongoing major battles on a world, I don't really have time to be microing.
Man that's re
We are working on an abstract map view mode (full map zoom out).
Awesome! Best news of the day. Now I really can't wait! This game is going to set a new standard. I remember when SC came out it was one of the main benchmarks used in new video card reviews. I believe Ashes will be one of the main games used in DX12 benchmarking.
The limited zoom really needs to go.... When I can only fit 5% of the map in the camera, it is not a good thing! It feels like starcraft [e digicons]:([/e]
Exactly. Back in the days of C&C (going WAY back now) that was just fine. Supreme Commander changed all that with its strategic zoom. Now there's no going back. I don't want another Starcraft. Once you've played SC
I like What I'm seeing so far, and my only real concern atm is what yous are going to do with the "strategic zoom" or your version of it, My suggestion would be make it just like the sup com strategic zoom except as you zoom out large clumps of units would turn into single icons that represened where your army's are, I will draw up an example of my idea soon.
Totally agreed. Strategic zoom is key to making&
