Frogboy , hope you see this after your weekend

Just thought I'd add that there seems to be significant AI improvemnets in both etactical gameplay and in planent management in 1.2 Beta. and the new combat systems makes the AI much more competitive also.
Any chance the bonuses for AI on masochistic and obscene decreasing? Please? Why? Play on a the lower level. When all the AI s are intelligent they don't get bonuses.
I enabled the example mods folder and I was able to both continue and old and create a new metaverse game. Don't know yet if I can post it.
My observations on planet AI under 1.2 Link My observations about the new combat system https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=274&AID=118840&cmd=myposts#916815 Great work
update to teh new 1.12.009 version posted saturday morning
Yep there was a new version very early this morning. 1.12.009
I am playing a game I just stated under 1.10.029 so the positions were already set. I was playing under 1.2.008 Beta last night The UI changes are great and the AI seems to be noticably more agressive and smarter. The Drath actually put up a great fight and the new combat system made things exciting. The planet build AI seems noticably better. Great work.
Can you guys make it so when you sort on that list, and go to the planet screens, the back and next buttons move you through the planets in the order they have been sorted with. What sequence are tey in now, I can't figure out.
The 1.2.009 Beta is now up. New for this morning.
But one thing I noticed, AI does not build basic super projects at all. I played against 4 tough AI in medium galaxy , by the time I had economic capital and manufacturing capitals in my sweet planets, the AI had not builded any of those. Later on one AI builded a economic capital. In earlier versions AI has been very quick in building these importat projects. </
Whether or not it is easy for the AI to use them I don't have a clue. Well I kinda do, but I'm no expert. But there is no harm in telling them. I wanna give Frogboy every idea I can and let him pick and choose the ones that work. Our feedback to him sure seems to be listened to. If he can use it he probably will.
Code Critter: The tactical formations looked nice. Against the bright nebula backgrounds they really gave me the shivers as I saw my ships blowing up in the different camera views in slow motion (half speed). It was great.
Like MOIISKA I am a little cautious about the possible bugs so What happens if I upgrade to 1.2 beta and then want to get the official patch later. Can I uninstal the beta? or will the official recognise the beta and upgrade? or do I need to back up the game folder and docs & setts folder in order to roll back to prior 1.2 beta? If I need to bac
I found the best combat viewing experience was at 1/s speed with cinematic, free cam adn orbiting and center out views. I meant the 1/2 Speed.
Other worlds I captured also had factories or a diverse rational placement of buildings. Not like it had done previously under Maso level in 1.10.029 where it built waaaaaaaaaay to many farms morale and embassies.
I think it rush bought those factories in response to my invasion of its empire. I swear it actually reacted to my aggression and built up its fleet to defend itself. It sure seemed that way...
Just played it all night. Left a couple comments up. Short summary. UI improvements are great. Civ manager focus buttons. Shipyard tool tips my favorite. New Combat system is fun. Battle damage adds suspense. AI fights back. Attrition of force now an issue. AI seems much better at planet management. I was playing at obscene difficulty, but the game definately seems to have a much more intelligent and aggressive AI. Must
Auto focus is now an option. It is dead unless you want to toggle it on. The new UI is great especially the planet screen and the tool tips on the shipyard that tells you the details of what the components are that are on the ship.
IMHO game is completely different. Much better. If you are worried about the beata, give the beta a day or so for them to kill the nasty bugs then you gotta try it. If not scared of the beta, go for it now. I am jazzed, it was really fun. THEY SHOT BACK and went out of there way to TRY AND KILL ME!!!!!!!
Even on a Size 4 world the Drath AI placed 2 factories, the colony and a starport and was busy cranking out heavy missile 12 fighters to wear me down. Didn't work but they died well. A worthy adversary.
I was playing at Obscene level and I took out the Drath as first victim. There planets were filled with .......tada ....... factories!!!!! Thank you Frogboy, thank you thank you thank you....
Just played a game all night. The AI seems to be much improved in planet management.
I found the best combat viewing experience was at 1/s speed with cinematic, free cam adn orbiting and center out views. Keep me up all night. Thought you guys might just want to know.
And also it seemed that the graphics seemed to greatly improved in the combat viewer. I used the example mode and it seemed that there was more variety in the tactical layouts. Plus I am not used to the enemy ships shooting back and watching explosions occur on the decks of my ships, let alone watching them explode.
