Try 1.02.009 Beta and give us a ring. Planet management and aggressiveness has been improved. Also waiting for the intensive AI give it more CPU time option. I see the AI getting better every time a new Beta has been released. One thing though, I see more and more the AI's beating up on each other. One reason you may not see the full wrath of the AI is that they consider your empire (you the real flesh and blood player) as just another race and may be concen

I use lists of stars, roman and greek gods, battles, historic navy ships, battles, generals, animals, insects, states, cities etc. I just google to find a bunch of lists and have them pasted into a word file. I try stay consistent game to game.

Wow, I really like some of these above ideas. Here's how I do it now I usually have designated ship classes as by size and main weapon type such as TF (Tiny Fighter) TFM or TFB or TFD (Missile Beam mass Driver) and small name such as TFM Knat I DE (Initial Small Escort ) DEM or DEB or DED and animal name such as DEM Bear II FG (Later Small Frigate) FGM or FGB or FGD and a class name like a large bird FGM Eagle IV C

I usually play on large or huge maps. I wait as long as I can to build since distance makes it tough to transport rush me. I feel free until someone develops planetary invasion and starts building transports. As soon as I start seeing enemy ships being made in mass on the military graph, or on the trade screen or if I start getting extortion threats. I buy a cheap defense starter fleet of either the most weapons I can fit in a small hull or just 1 weapon in a s

The 1.12. 009 Beta is a real change in how the game works in terms of its combat system and AI effectiveness. It is mosty stable and if it works for you, it is a greatly improved experience. You may experience occasional crashes or problems. But if it starts up for you it seems to be stable. THe final non beta version of 1.2 will be probably ready in a couple weeks.

And the fact the weapons add together into one large attack factor, in effect does the same thing. For example a huge ship that can hold 7 size ten missiles that do damage of 8 each has a attack factor of 80. Plus bonuses. A small hull ship may only be able to hold three of thee systems, even after miniaturizing. Attack factor or 24. So in effect the result is that you have a much larger weapon or battery of weapons. Even though the game system shows the size

On my other thread in the bug forum Link Codecritter gave the location of the nebula backgrounds. I am playing 1.12.009 Beta I think some of the secret is the amount of the Ambient light setting in the Game Options control. I set it dark to about 15, then shadow detail hits the turning ships. More Alien or Bab 5 than Star Trek. I like slow battles, makes the bob an

Looks great. I had an issue with metaverse submission and I suspected it might be carielf example mod. So I started a new unmodded Huge game with the fleet formations files copied into the fleet formations folder of my regular Galciv2 1.12.009 beta files. seems to work. Great work on the new combat system. These nebula backgrounds are new right?

Well tried to submit it again and it sorta went through. Got booted to the Metaverse Start game screen. Well I kinda got credit for it on the Metaverse (moved up to 63!) but it didn't count as a win and got flagged as cheat codes. It did count as a game played though.

It would be wonderful if auto select would die now, adn Carielf did say it was a bit harder to implement though. Ideally it would be a check box on the options menu as well. But I find that by left clicking on all ships in view in a zoomed out strategic map, that mostly solves teh problem for me. The only problem have is that sometimes I miss the ship, don't notice I haven't selected it because the blue halo is too small and I move the auto selected ship to my intended d

Also 1 G memory is most effective for windows and my new system really uses up to 2 Meg . Galciv2 trys to use at least 712 MB Ram - 1.5 Meg Ram so if youu don't have that your hard drive swap file is getting a workout. Disk defreag and a proper swap file size is essential. Turn off Antialiasing and make sure you have teh latest video drivers.

Under game opotions change tactical view zoom option lower to something like 10. That will keep the ships as icons unless you zoom really in. What version aere you playing at? 1.1 really fixed a lot of the performance options especially for larger maps and teh 1.12.009 Beta does a much better job at ship and fleet memory management.

Are you getting other war threats? What is your military strength, does thr AI think you are a wuss? What level difficulty are you playing at? And finally, Mr Sovereign entity, who dare you put it with that obvious violation of yourr self defined rights! Declare waar, kick their arse and repay their insolance with an appropriate level of violance.

The give your race ad\vantages when you build them. Also you can trade them on the tradee screen techs, money and ships and things from the other civilizations. Often their advantage is so great you don't want to trade them or becaause they cannot be retraded you want to be careful who you give them to.
