In my opinion, the best place to advertise now is on prominent gaming websites. Run contests and promotions on your own sites. Get respected members of the gaming community excited about your product so they WANT to talk about it (Penny Arcade). Maybe get a cardboard stand-up placed in local EB and GameStop stores. Basically, place the advertisements in places gamers are k

2 screens would seem to max out my mousie too. Not sure if I like 2560 x 1024 more or something less like 2500x1024 or 2400 x1024 so that the monitor gap/split does not occur right along the center as so many things are auto centered. Must experiemt, more excuse to play........ Yeah, the game cut scens stagger now. I can live with that though. Help Stardock.... I grabbed

Just did some experimentation. I can get the game to work on both monitors. I set the resolution manually in the pref.ini to 2560x1024. The problem with the mouse cursor and slow movement was the anti-aliasing. When I set it to 0 the game worked. When I set it to 6 the problem surfaced. Fullscreen or windowed options had no effect. On observation, though. The game is very usable over the two monitors, but the dialog screens are exactly in the center of the screen

Actually I think I like the game now fully spread out on two monitors. The planetary fleet battles at half speed now look more epic in scope, especially free cam mode and orbit and center out. Cimematic is nice too.

No font size change I can see. Just tried 2200 x 1024 ( and 2048 x 1024 and 2000 x 1024) Current favorite is 2200 x 1024 windowed, no anti aliasing. The Civ manager (planet colony list) screen splits across the two monitors between the approval and builing columns (sweet) and the domestic policy screen splits nicely between income and expenses! The Diplomacy screen spilts between your race and the Ai, and the Ttreaties Circle Line Diagram is all on the left mon

I like Galactic Civilizations because the developers 'get it'. They are turn based strategy gamers that understand what you want in a strategy game. There is a great balance between engaging complexity and management that rarely devolves into micromanagement. Yeah, and the "just one more turn" mojo that the game has. The compet

1.10.029 is noticably faster for me. Those memory tweaks of carielf did wonders. They will be included in the 1.2 beta, It is almost instant, only at most 2-3 secs maximum, on a large map, even late in the game. Although I don't add a lot of jewelry to my ships.

Also the payback from an ad is the real decison point. How much additional profit you get from an ad can sometime be measured. For software, an incremental sale can be almost 95-100% profit, as the physical distribution an manufacturing costs of an additional copy is very small compared to the developmental costs. So for example, you may sell a game for $40, average profit may be $ 5, but your contribtion margin, or extra profit for the last unit sold may be huge, like $35 in extr

Advertising also may get people interested in the game where they will check out the reviews, search the web, ask friends etc. With the advertising spark they may never had heard of you or considered your product purchase. If you ask some of those people why they point or how they heard of you, some if not most may site the review as the reason, even though they may not have read the review without the ad. The real advertising question is not whether advertsing works but what advert

Also, a self selection bias will appear on this forum for internet savvy heavy users. A lot of you store sales may not be forum posters and the posters here may not be a representative sample of those people that responded to your advertising. Human nature tends to have people not want to admit they responded to an ad, because they don’t want to admit they were manipulated. In research studies word of mouth is overstated and recall due to advertising is almost always understated.

An ad needs only to be big enough to be noticable. A well done stand out 1 page could work as well as a two page, especially on subsequent insertions. Your latest two page ad in CGW did get the point across, and I thought they were well done. Ads will tell new potential users that the game exists and allows for easier sales of the product from people that are predisposed to buy your product ( ie for Galciv2, SF strategy gamers, MOO2 lovers etc,) that your game even exi

Please see if you can fix this small issue. We have found a way to suport dual monitor spanning but the game rewrites the pref.ini file each time you start up under an extended desktop setting. Thread on this is issue https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=162&AID=100434#913858

MD What speed is your CPU? I find that the windowed game is more stable because it stop having the game stop and freeze everytime I use another program or hit the windows key. Using windows mode you can use the excellant galactopedia in the open space on the right side. I am going to exepriment to find a setting that works best. Link

I set the pref.ini file to 1920 x 1024 and that moved the screen to all of my leftside ( LCD) monitor and half of my rightside monitor. That moved the dialog boxes over to the left side. Cool.
