Just did some experimentation. I can get the game to work on both monitors. I set the resolution manually in the pref.ini to 2560x1024. The problem with the mouse cursor and slow movement was the anti-aliasing. When I set it to 0 the game worked. When I set it to 6 the problem surfaced. Fullscreen or windowed options had no effect. On observation, though. The game is very usable over the two monitors, but the dialog screens are exactly in the center of the s

I use two 19 inch monitors all the time. One LCD on CRT. Both on the same resolution. I don't have any problem at all extending a window across both screens or dragging a window from one screen to another or having aa window expand across both screens on any other program except GalCiv2. I am running in windowed mode at the same size as my desktop. When I When I try extending my Galciv2 window across both screens or I start in 90 degree portrait rotated mode on my
A very small suggestion about land battles, could you make the laser and other sounds bit quieter? I don´t know how it is possible, but I tend to play with quite quiet sounds and the land battles are still booming loud. Weird Amen. Land battles very loud. Please allow slider or tone down. Please. Pretty Please.....I'm begging
--I'd like an option to specify one ship design as the primary upgrade of another ship. The reason for having this is so that, when I obselete the core constructor, all the planets that were currently building constructors will automatically switch production to the improved design I made, instead of simply going idle (and wasting God-knows-how-much production). It's also
It might make the AI better and the games more of a challenge, without affecting the AI coding. Make some cloaking type nebulas permanent on the map, as a user option. or at a higher AI level. Just make some of the fog of war permanent on the map, (color it differently as a nebula, but the effect would just exactely be like a permanent fog of war). When a scanner range goes through it , just have the human players scanner unveil stop. Let the AI have the advantage of bein
To reduce the bumper car effect..... Why don't you guys try reducing to 1/2 speed and try yje the free moving camera and orbiting and center views. In the free camera view, right click and drag the image to the left or right until you are just between the approaching fleets. You can zoom out and in with the center mouse wheel. Hit restart on the bottom to start the action from the beginning. In a major battle try all the other views. I like starting with
Please allow the sound level for planet invasions to be adjusted.
1,000,000 citizens do not equal 1,000,000 mouths to feed. Remember citizens in GalCIv2 are the economic taxpayers, not the underground economy, or dependent children or infirmed, retired etc THey are only the ones paying taxes, thats why they can grow so much in a year (said the robot)
Why should anybody have an issue with an optional cosmetic component that costs a little. If you don't like it or its not a market valuse for you, then don't pay. Many updates that affect the UI, gameplay mechanics or fixes bugs has been FREE from the stardockies. There is also a strong case for a major expansion that has to be budgeted for (ie. someone has to pay for the developers). Thats a major gamble on Frogboys part. But is there is a great set of optiona
Thanks Frogboy: I think I've gotten it so that it won't build a gagillion embassies or entertainment centers. The cause seems to be that those two types of buildings were not defined and as a result there was no limit on how many of that "kind" of building could be made. It was pretty deep in there so it took some doing.]/quote] My view
Great ideas, using the same gaphics And for the love of all things holy, a way to turn off or turn down the land battle sound. I find that I have to turn down my speakers whenever I do a land battle, the sound is so loud and repetitive. Land Combat Sound slider bar maybe?
It should be possible to add a function to not auto-select ships as well, but that will take more work and it seemed to me that the major complaint was that the camera got moved all over the place. The toggle of "no auto-select" would really solve the problem, but IF the "no autofocus" would allow the camera and map to be stationary over
Also, Do you guys use the skip autopilot moves remaining option?
I use the find button and Tab keys to move. I try to move my ships in stages. Here is where autofocus and autoselection kills me. Stage I. in your "my documents" folder go to /mygames/galciv2 go to Go to the pref.ini file. Open with notepad. Change the "SkipIntro=0" entry to SkipIntro=1 Save
What version, AI level, level of difficulty and ga;axy size were you playing? I saw that a lot previously (and posted screenshots for Frogboy) but with the latest 1.10.029 version at Maso level, I don't see it in really stupid places (like the safe center of a AI empire) but only in desperate places were the AI is trying to counteract my influence.
I have the Auto-Focus option working. Fantastic.....Can't wait to download the beta.
Yet I'll see a screenshot of someone who has gotten a planet where the AI built nothing but entertainment centers or embassies. How the heck did that happen? Nice to see you saw my screenshots. BTW the AI in my latest games seems to be less weird for embassy and morale. Did you tweak some planet management AI in 1.11.029? Or is it that I am
The only multiplayer I ever see working for this is a sort of continuous universe one where teams of players can log on and play a single game or sets of games to a conclusion. With the old Plato academic timeshare system there was a star trek type game that had 4 races that could have 20 players logged on at a time. Games went on for weeks with players loging on two hours or so at a time. In this case, a game could be live, with players logging on to act as the race
A cgw review is now onlline. Is this the one from the current mag? Link
Wouldn't a wrapping map kinda would simulate a flat opened 3D object like a cylinder or sphere? Why not as an option, would it kill th AI?
Personally, I would much rather have other goodies than multiplayer. And I think it's more than just me. BTW, I have given advice on some of your other online polls that cautioned you on taking them too seriously because I thought the self selected oneline sample may not reflect the actual population universe you are polling because of the lack of randomness and the lack of being representative. ie., the people who respond to a online survey are different than everyone
