I just want to know what people think. In large maps I found that colonizing to many star systems can be a bit detrimental. Here's what I mean. We know that the other 5 civ's get a population bonus and seem to have their planets grow a heck of a lot faster. Often times I find that getting to many start systems can end up leaving ourselves vulnerable especially in the technology and military race. My solution is not to expand in a more moderate fashion try to build a quick army and a

I have noticed in the first few games I have tried on a large map that the civ's start rather close to my own initial star system leaving a lot of the galaxy open to be more easily colonized by the AI. I am mainly referring to large map with scattered stars. Just curious if this is normal or am I just getting unlucky with the random number generator?
I think GalCiv is really great in giving your civ's economic situation. For instance when you build you can easily glance at the left of your screen and it tells you what you that star planets expenses to income is. Each social project has a maintance cost associated with it as well. You might want to stay away from the projects that have high maintance cost. Some things I have done is sell techs to minor civ's and spread out the price between 10-20 months so its like you are getti
My problem is the exact inverse. The only way I seem to win is through culteral victory. Given I have only played on simple and beginner. Tonight I am going to start a imperialistic evil civ to see if I can win on military might.
Just curious but is the online manual or the PDF version the same one that comes with the boxed game?
I read, I believe in the manual, that there were different resolution settings. Is this just a feature that will be added during patches?
Looks good. I wish I had something like this that I could access while playing. BTW, would you happen to know if it is a universal problem for the encyclopedia button not to work on the flash intro screen.
I first want to say that this is a great game. However, the manual is... Anyhow I was wondering if there are any online documents that describe in some detail things like espionage, destabilization, what the Techs do in some detail, and just a host of other things to help me get an idea to plan a strategy. Along those same lines is there any in game documentation that I can click to analagous to something like civlopedia. I find myself hindered by not knowing exactly how to plan my n
