Can we let this thread die with dignity?
macraig: The fact you posted here a second time seems to indicate you WANT to like the game. I'd give it another chance; read more of the Strategy and Empire forums. I think that one positive the game has is its ability to be the 4X YOU want it to be. With all the different variables like Galaxy size, Alignment, difficulty, etc, it can be quite addictive when you find your exact combo.
Arcean systems from the Altarians, they surrendered to the Torians. I attacked the Torians, and they eventually surrendered to the Yor (even though the Yor were chaotic evil and the Torians were good). The Yor surrendered to the Drengin ...
And she told two friends...and so on...and so on...and so on.... It can be a little frustrating when this happens. I'm sure there is a formula that determines who surrenders to whom. Does anyone know more specifics on this?
I almost always employ Luck at 25%, either through Ability points or by choosing the Universalists. Remember: "It is better to be Lucky than Good."
Despair not Capt.! You will master the game, I have no doubt. :D Try mucking around with the different Political Parties when you start, and try using different combos of the ability points given to you at the beginning when you set up your Civ. You will eventually find your style of game.
There is a change in the difficulty of the game, I have no doubt of this. Could it be because there are now 2 more major races trying to take a piece out of the same size pie? All I know is that there should be some adjustments made. Perhaps as the difficulty level goes up; we Terrans should get more ability points to spend. All I know is the game HAS gotten harder.
Canibusism: Welcome! You will enjoy the game very much! The Metaverse is an addictive alternative to Classic on-line play. Your best bet would be to take the friends you would play on-line with and form your own Empire!
Actually; the issues, as far as I can tell, have been delt with in the AP public beta as Carielf so kindly informed me on another thread. I'm sitting here trying to think of what to say next, and frankly all I can think of is: this is no fun. So, I'll read the posts from time to time, try and help a newbie once in a while, and forget the rest. So Long & Thanks for All the Fish.
To everyone at Stardock: I've only played about 20mins of AP so far, and all I can say is WOW :SURPRISED: ! Congrats on a terrific looking game! I'm sure there are bugs I haven't found yet, but so far AP in unbelievable! :D Were I the "Powers That Be" over there, I would make every effort and take every risk I had to to get this out there and on the shelves! There is no doubt in my mind that you have locked up some 2004 Game of the Year Awards already! :CONGRAT: Thanks Again for w
move along. Nothing to see here
LOL LOL LOL
but cross posting this everywhere just gets irritating
Sorry to have irritated you. :notsure:
As for the MOO1 debate
But of course, this long tangent is not irritating :p Kind of getting sick of the whole tone of the forum. Plenty of people out there who believe that the disscusions of minutae are sooo much more important than what anyone else may have to ask. This used to be a completely fun and open place where people communicated, asked
I almost always employ Luck +25%, whether through The Universalists or by spending the point if I'm playing another Party. I've found that very often Rangers or large numbers of Corvettes come when I am at war and things seem hopeless. Could just be the way I remember things, a Ranger when your behind in ship techs means a lot more than when you're flush! LOL
I didn't think the Researched mattered as much as the Discovered
I thought it was the other way around. I was under the impression Researched was where the points are and Discovered, while yielding points, reflect more of the Traded and Stolen techs plus your own Researched. Anyone wanna' weigh in? :D
Cari, Bless You :CONGRAT: That is good to know. I've pre-ordered AP on CD. Will this still be available to me?
I'm posting this all over because I simply am not getting an answer when waiting patiently. (:( What about the in-game scoring problem (NOT Metaverse scoring) relating to techs? Any time you save and reload, all previous techs you have researched are lost in your score. Only techs researched after you load the saved game count to your researched techs score. :SURPRISED: Will 1.21 address this? Will anyone?
Please, I am posting this all over the place because I'm simply not getting an answer as I wait patiently. Will 1.21 address the in game (not Metaverse) scoring difficulties in regards to techs. If you save and reload, all previous techs researched are lost in the scoring. They will be reflected in the techs discovered, but only the techs researched after you loaded the saved game will be counted under techs researched! This left me with a whopping 1 tech researched and 143 discovered in
Here we go; AGAIN, the scoring within the game (NOT the Metaverse) is messed up. Researched techs are not counted if you save and reload. I just played a test game, and in both the new save game file I created and the saved file I had written over, once I retired the final scoring showed 0 techs researched. It showed 14 techs discovered (the number of techs I'd researched) but NO techs researched! Bottom line: WHAT IS UP? >:( Will this be fixed in 1.21? :d Somebody? Anybody? (:(
What about the screwed up scoring? I have brought this up on several threads! No response! When will this be addressed? >:( What must be done to get a correct tally on your final score? I am getting final scores that have nothing to do with the game just played: the 1 ver1.2 game I have submitted showed a Beyond Human victory but only showed that I had researched one tech! (:( I realize things are busy with Alterian Prophecy coming up, but it would be nice to be able to play the game
I am having the same problem! Hang in there! I would post your problem on the specific bug report for the version you are playing. The problem started for me with 1.19 and was constant. Then it became an occasional problem with v1.20. I am hoping that it will be fixed by v1.21.
I just downloaded 1.2 and now my in game music is all static
This has come up many times in different threads and has never been fully addressed. This problem, for me, started with v1.19. My sound problems are now intermitant. Cari posted a link to an Mp3 update in the 1.19 bug thread, but it didn't do anything to solve the problem. This is not a wiring problem. This is not only one person experiencing a problem. This is related to the updates! Everyone may not be ex
Star Pilot: Thank You! :) I was beginning to think no one would read a post unless it contained an equation and a complaint about the AI. If anyone knows more specifics...
Are you typing it exactly including the -'s. If so try again, I kind of remember having trouble the 1st try. :D
Again, have to ask: Any time-frame on the 1.21 patch? Will it address the very annoying save-game problems? (Like ending a game and showing only 1 tech researched when I had a "Beyond Human" win)
