I want you to separate the AI complexity from the Economic Bonus/Penalty. Considering the way the game is already set-up, this would be very easy. (Mabie not an hour, but not alot longer to change the format). Set up one slider for the AI (seriously hampered up to full bore everything goes). Set up ANOTHER slider for money (from 10x to player, through even, and on to 10x for AI). This will allow EVERYONE to face your wonderful AI, and titrate exactly how hard the gam

TAXES!!!! People defend the planet from invasion, as well as making soldiers. BUT, the biggest thing they provide is MONEY. Keep your approval high (tricky in itself) and you can be rolling in money from taxes. Remember, research is ENTIRELY from labs, and manufacturing is ENTIRELY from factories (modifiers not withstanding). But, money is mainly from taxes (some from tourists, much from trade). Chris.

Another wonderful point. (Except it appears to CTD if done too much). When you have your spying up to ADVANCED and want to examine your enemy's worlds just click on one of them. Then to move to the next, use the next button. You will cycle through all of that race's worlds. There is a problem with it however. I don't know if it is because not all of that race's worlds are currently visible (not yet found with scouts), or because it is just a bug, but after a couple of worlds you

I went nuts last night because many important sliders appeared to be missing. Overnight I thought about it and realized that I had changed my interface color to 'black' in my first game. Now I wanted a race that was 'dark and dangerous' so a black interface made sense.....Unless it is on top of a black background. Then it makes that interface invisible. DUH!!!! Chris.

The economy interface is missing. When I go to the taxation screen, I see the numbers of tax and percents for military, social, and research, but THE SLIDERS AND LOCKS ARE ALL MISSING. I am unable to change anything. ALSO, when given a morality choice, I am unable to make a choice. I also can't seem to see making a choice about which kind of starbase to make, though I can click in the general area and get what I want. All in all, the interface is bugged. Chris.

The alpha Centauri cluster (3 stars actually) is 4.3 light years away (Well centauri Proxima, a dwarf is the closest, the 2 'sun-like' stars Centauri A and B are slightly farther). That places it over a parsec away, and it is the closest star system to us! Either we are REALLY alone, or a parsec isn't really that large. Chris.

"...It's been incorrectly used for a time unit before (Han Solo, Star Wars)..." Actually in Star wars it meant that all the black holes near kessel warped space so he actually went less distance than anyone else. Skirts the blackholes, VERY closely. Anyone read the manual (obviously yes) The gigantic galaxy is truly massive. I can't wait... <

Go to Start > Run > Regedit Look for tab - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Stardock Drengin.net Galciv2 Click the last one. On the right side of the screen there will be a series of icons. Double click the Path one. Change that to the location you moved the files to. i.e. C:\Games\GalCiv2 All done. </TA

Alright, I moved the program and fixed the registry path. Seems to work. I also activated the choice in SD Central to ask for an installation path. (Would REALLY be a good idea if this option started out as ON, not OFF). I am still irritated that I can't seem to move the program to another machine (changing a reg path, not a big deal. Not sure if I am ready to fabricate one on another computer). Not a big problem if my disks come on the 21 as expected (You ARE mailing them out so they

If the tactical combat was done well, like in ROME TOTAL REALISM, than it would be good. HOWEVER, that would be MOO4 and not GC2. Now I remember hearing a rumor that Stardock was considering getting the rights to MOO. If that were the case, I would LOVE Brad making a MOO4 with decent Tactical, as well as Strategic potential. Best case scenario would be a couple of years since we are hoping MOM is the next game after Society <img

wow! you guys are really desperate to get this game. Well I hate to post and run, but as a member of the private gamma test I have two options right now: 1) Stay and read bizarre posts about rumors of mutant servers on steroids running amok, or 2) Play a few rounds of GalCiv 2 I think my choice is clear. PS: The game is super fu

In Wrath of Kahn, the science vessel was looking for a dead world to use the genesis device on (it destroys anything used, therefore they needed a 'dead' world, but one with the right gravity, an atmosphere, ect. Anyway, the scientists thought they were on Ceti Alpha 6 which was dead. They then ran into Kahn and his crew which had been left on a beautiful primitive world with lots of promise (Ceti Alpha 5 - likely class 10-12). The problem was Ceti Alpha 6 exploded, and changed the orbit of C

An idea for a solution is a "Hall of Fame" Have the metaverse work as it did with GC1, but on the side have a table of the top 100 (or 1000) game scores, total scores, scores for people with purple hair , any number of categories you wish. This way the metaverse is active for those still ACTIVELY playing and submitting, BUT those who obviously used considerable time in the past don't just vanish. Chris.
