I'm definately for the HoMM style of movement. I would also prefer HoMM's style of continuing planned moves. That is to say, I would like all moves that take more than 1 turn to complete to be manually continued each turn.

EDIT: Of course, I'm beaten to the punch. Researching the Wind. I can't begin to understand the logic in companies designing computers, that are supposed to be used primarily to view documents, having such a low vertical resolution. For the most part, I find vertical resolution to be far more important than the horizontal. Curiously, it took me awhile to narrow down exactly what an MSI Wind even was. MSI, in their infinite wisdom, ha
In that last picture, I'm simply amazed that there are 3(!) fertile land spaces in a row.
What if the unit auto-moving at the end of turn has moves left? You've already hit the end turn button. During the turn they wouldn't of notified you of their need to move because they already had orders. Auto turn at the end of turns could result in plenty of wasted movement points, just as this could.
The C++ Redistributables can be found in your intallation directory under the /REDIST/ folder. Go there to reinstall them without redownloading the entire game.
Please try reducing your resolution to the lowest allowable. https://forums.elementalgame.com/364203
We are unable to see files on your computer. If you could upload your image to a place like Jing , that would be much more useful. Further, in fututre posts, do your best to describe the error and don't rely so heavily on the screenshot to do the talking.
I have an update and a possible path towards resolution. I've tried the game on a third PC, one that has a literal rats nest of codecs installed. What happened was that I epxerienced the same crash everyone else is, with the exact same debug.err files. I'm begining to suspect that this is a codec issue involving the bink video attempting to play. The debug.err does not indicate enough information about that, so it might be helpful if people would beging to include th
Would you say your issue is somewhat similar to this? https://forums.elementalgame.com/364218 or this https://forums.elementalgame.com/364202
On the other hand, you have a wonderful opportunity to build one city that has 2 farms, and perhaps beat the level 3 city limit people have been experiencing.
Good catch Scott, that's indeed exactly what I'm suffering from. My screenshot was simply the most extreme example I could find, but what he is showing is actually more common. EDIT: Also, I didn't notice until he said it, but the Sea tiles all over the map is infact exactly what was going on with me as well. I just thought the map was supposed to insanely confusing, and I couldn't identify why. Now that I'm using a different computer it's much more clear.
This does not occur on one of my other machines. Having played the game now and I believe it is working as intended, it looks some of these lines are supposed to outline the land, to differentiate between land and water. That is not occuring in my previous posts, or I imagine with Scott's. Here's a debug.err from a computer that displays things properly and doesn't suffer from this. http://p
Same bug different machine, new debug.err http://pastebin.com/m2ff3bf51
I have a similar setup. A 6800. I suspect you won't be able to get yours working at anything above 1024x768. Give it a shot though, can't hurt to have more debug.err files floating about.

Just tossing in a link to a thread regarding the C++ Redistributables. Microsoft Visual C++ 2005/2008 Redistributable It seems that there are a number of issues regarding these redistributables and what is running and when. Sometimes it seems they don't install properly even when they report they have.
Remember, this is a Beta version of a game. Plus, we have no idea what their engine is doing. Reducing your resolution and mine fixed this issue. Obviously this relates to graphics memory. Don't compare the functionality of retail games to this Beta as there really can be almost no comparison at this point.
The next line in a working debug.err checks your My Documents\My Games\Elemental\Items\*.xml. however, this is handled with an absolute path. Something like: DebugMessage: No files found matching mask C:\1Matt\My Games\Elemental\Items\*.xml DebugMessage: No files found matching mask C:\1Matt\My Games\Elemental\Units\*.xml DebugMessage: No files found matching mask C:\1Matt\My Games\Elemental\Stamps\*.xml DebugMessage: No files found m
I have the exact same issue. I suspect it's a lack of video memory. Your 512MB of video memory is not a whole hell of a lot if your trying to run the game at that resoultion. EDIT: Also... https://forums.elementalgame.com/364091
Same here, game crash at the title screen. Seems not found some mp3.
Checking my debug.err and others, this is an expected line. Those files aren't there, or at least they're reporting to not be there for others as well. I suspect it has more to do with whatever it is trying to do at line 218 of the parse.cpp file.
Well, here goes me setting the world on edge. Curiously, I can't save the game. The load screen operates fine as well, but it doesn't show any save games simply because I can't save games.
Yeah, your high-res images definately have an etch-a-sketch feel to them. Your 1024x768 images though are more in line with what I'm experiencing, as it seems to be adheared to some aspect of the map instead of simply thrown at the screen with sticky glue.
Sorry, but I'm currently at the lowest resolution allowed by the game due to what I think is a lack of video memory that prevents assets from drawing at higher resolutions.
I've had something similar. When running my game at 1600x1200 I get this: Reducing my resolution resolves this issue along with lots of other missing text/icons and whatnot. Could this be an example of lack of video memory? DXDiag - http://pastebin.com/m3906cd7a
