Same issue for me. I already had Anti-aliasing disabled though. What fixed it for me was reducing the screen resolution and turning off some effects. Could this be a lack of video memory? My system is really low on it. DXDiag http://pastebin.com/m3906cd7a

Holding down the left and right mouse buttons at the same time works.

During the opening 'movie', I begin to see some really strange flashes and artifacts all over the screen, appearing in wierd places and getting worse as time goes on. During installation, I'm asked to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable. That's great, I should already have that. In fact, I have Visual Studio 2008 installed. The Demo has been out since Sunday, but wasn't supposed to be released until Tuesday (today). I also suspect that they had some sort of deal to exclusively release the demo on Fileplanet for the first few days.
I pre-ordered quite awhile ago just so I could get Red Faction 1 and 2. I'm not even sure I'll play 3. Sure, I have the CDs for those first two games... but I didn't have them on Impulse.

For example, people play and enjoy a game called Dwarf Fortress . This is an ASCII based game that is currently under devlopment. Conisdering that people still enjoy text based games being developed in the year 2009, I would be amazed to hear that people will be unable to enjoy Beta 1 of Elemental.
Open Internet Explorer -> Help -> About The reason I ask is that I'm having similar issues with Impulse in general with Phase 4, and I was attributing it to the fact that I merely have Internet Explorer 6.0 installed. Why haven't I upgraded? It doesn't yet inconvenience me enough.
