Once again though as one of the members who had some issues with v1.1 i would like to thank CariElf for her and her teams outstanding effort to rectify this Fully
e-stab
I agree that the AI should strive to have specialized high-output planets, both for production and research. I suppose that it is a difficult thing to tell the AI, but a nice goal and a good enhancement by all means.
There used to be a medal for having at least one victory for each of the victory conditions. I'd love to see that one back in the gallery. Seconded! I think that there should be a medal for some special cases too, like getting the "you didn't understand the backstory" award for winning alliance and cultural victories as a saintly Drengin!
I thought the iconians were good They're only since 1.1. The T-Shirts leap back one version, but I don't think that this will change.
It's the opposite for me right now: I've been able to open standard 1.1 saves with the new builds that seemed broken before. It might be worth a try if you still have "broken" saves.
Doesn't that, pretty much, destroy the whole advantage of being the attacker Yes, it destroys the whole advantage of being the attacker (except the decision to initiate combat or not).
It makes sense to me, and as LoneWolf said, it gives you a valid retreat option that adds a bit more tactical depth to the combat. Fully agreed! Throw in a checkbox for "Continue combat until decided" to automatically reinitiate combat as long as necessary (and as long as your movement points allow), and you'll remove unnecessary micromanagement and
I'm positive that something has been changed with the combat system. I just had a battle of 5 against 9 ships which ended when 2 and 4 ships were still there.
Draw is only when both ships die. This gives the defender an opportunity to put up a fight...but otherwise battles are exactly the same. Combat seems to end after just one round now, or am I mistaken?
Is there a plan to allow for attacking without exiting the combat viewer? Sounds like a good idea to me. Maybe it should cost another movement point though, it wouldn't hurt the AI this way.
Where did you get cachemanXP? Google.
Be aware that the combat system has been changed in the test version: Now ships shoot back even when they're destroyed in the same round, and combat ends after just one round - thus it can end in a draw with survivors on both sides. The "battle ended in a draw" message (instead of "Victory" or "Defeat") isn't there yet, so you'll see a "string not found" in the top bar of the battle report when it ends undecided.
On game crashes. I have adjusted the auto save to save every other turn. That way I will never lose more than one and a fraction turns. An autosave does not take but two or three seconds between turns, and it can save you lots. Sure, I know about the wonders that are called autosave. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gif" bord
Yes, tech trading is still too easy, especially for money.
A new medal to strive for. Yes, I'd like to encourage everyone to try to get it. It's interesting to play all races as there really are differences, and it will show the world once again that the Galactic Diplomats excel at what they do! It can be conf
I agree that such an option would be nice.
jwquinn, what medal?
Every ship can fire back even when it was destroyed. It's even better than I thought: Every ship fires, even when it is destroyed in the same round, and there's only one round of combat, making it possible that combat ends in a draw when ships of both sides survive the shoot-out. I'm not sure if the change is there to stay, but I like it. <img src="h
I played some more with close attention to the economy (trying to abstract from my playstyle) and experimented without any economic bonuses, and now I'd like to relativise what I said about the tax income: The base tax income seems about right to me, perhaps the economic bonuses you can take are a bit too powerful or too cheap to choose. The problem lies on the other side: It is too easy to buy techs and trade goods for money from the alien races, regardless of what relations you have (like the
I see that the Goddess has a plan to 'fix' the memory problem... WOOT! I'm playing with an experimental version already. I'm getting crashes from time to time, but the savegames aren't corrupt anymore, so it's not a big deal! There's another
I may be able to put up an unofficial test build with my changes later today as a link. That would be great!
Most (all?) times happens for me is when a planet with an orbital fleet manager has only one ship in orbit. The game probably needs to come down from the feeling that one ship is a fleet.
They need to make it so that people who don't focus on economy specifically can get by with another strategy without constantly being in the red. If you really try to maximise economy, you can (as you know) get a huge income. Agreed. Perhaps the problem is not the money you make, but all the things you can get for it, especially from the other races.
Lastly, If conquering a capital world doesn't give you the civ immediately, it should. I disagree, too. Losing the capital doesn't mean that your whole race gives up. And it would be a pain to teach that to the AI...
What I would like to add is that tech trading should be more dependant upon good relations. On Neutral, AI shouldn't be willing to to supply you with -any- military related technology, such as weapons or armor -or- logistics. That should atleast limit some early tech trading mania. Also, perhaps have higher "rates" for technology when it comes to AI selling it?
