This issue should be totally resolved in the release version. I thought so, but good to know. It seemed like the AI got stuck calculating or moving on these occasions.

Thanks! I don't have it installed at the moment, trying to get some work done before the final version comes out...
I have the same problem sometimes. Sometimes save and reload helps, sometimes pressing the enter button to jump to the next turn does, sometimes nothing seems to help.
I would much prefer to deal with a nova than a damn recession that lasts an interminably long time. I think many real Earth politicians would agree on that one!
I believe miniaturization affects both the space on a hull as well as component sizes. You're sure? They are different for the different hull sizes, but I don't think they change (in the Beta, that is).
GC2 does a fixed payment, rather than having it be over X months. So the good old x bc for y months it totally gone? What a pity, it was such a nice instrument, one I saw nowhere else! I always hoped, hell, was pratically presuming it was only missing in the Beta...
It would be better if there were a "cash me out" button, that showed/offered a remainder that takes the NPC to the edge of green. I second that. It may seem a bit gamey, but putting the excess values of diplomatic trades into cash or sometimes influence points is what I usually do. (Well, at least when the game is close - which I expect it to be. <im
Second that. I think most of us wouldn't like to have purely random events beyond our influence that destroy whole planets.
I also think miniaturization only extends the size value of the hulls, it doesn't decrease the size of the parts. Which boils down to the same in the end, it's only a matter of the numbers involved. So the article is in error or at least uses phrasing capable of being misunderstood. Never mind, it's very positive in total.
The way Peace Phoenix describes it was the way it worked in GC1, and though I haven't looked at that specifically I can only assume it's the same case in GC2. IP equates to UP votes, nothing more. I've got the same impression.
Ok, so let me get this right - the only way to get these extra ship design components is to pre-order the game? What do you think "pre-order" goodies are made for? Be aware that they are purely cosmetical though, it's not like you'd miss half of the game without them.
marioflag, you should really do something about your caps lock, it seems to have a disfunction... Spelling words correctly (and you know how to do that) would help as well. The only thing shouting usually gets you on forums is to be ignored or the fastest way to the exit door.
My comment about "years and years of total rebellion" was made in the context that I don't like that part of the Civ4 simulation very much. But Civ4 has issues with the length of its turns anyway - ever moved a tank (without using air deployment)?. Getting a planet to full production in the same week it was conquered (see: GalCiv II) is unrealistic as well, but it allows for a nice game and I concur with it. Comparing GalCiv's system of conquest to anything in reality is far-fetched a
So that the download servers are not overloaded Feb. 21th, maybe you should make the release available a few days early to the beta testers to spread the load. Yes, Feb 2nd sounds like a good date to me. Or how about 02-06-2006? Ir
I think only EA games and some other moderately big companies can adversite on the TV. There were also some funny Diablo 2 ads. If you don't know them, look for them.
*makes a deep bow and kisses the ring* Long live CariElf!
1) I believe Yarlen stated that theory wise, there could be as many as 5000 colonizable type planets, so at a minimum that is about 1000 star systems.... I saw that thread as well and made the test on the gigantic map with all settings set to abundant, but I got much less colonizable planets. Theory wise it may be right, in practice it won't occur. (
This won't take long, I think.
I'll throw in my two cents: 1) 150-200, I'd say. (I usually don't play on gigantic maps) 2) Stars look different (colour and size) and have different numbers of planets around them. I think number and quality of surrounding planets are correlated to the star's colour. 3) Moons and rings. Moons give a small production bonus, rings give a small research bonus. 4) I've seen up to 5 or 6. 5) The starti
Only improvements that give a fixed boost (not a %, local or galactic) will gain from bonus tiles. AFAIK all approval buildings give a percentage as it is the basic morale "currency". This is the exception from the rule, I guess. To put it simpler: Special tiles don't work with super projects, trade goods a
I guess it was a matter of luck in this particular battle: Maybe his ship was so badly damaged at the end that it wouldn't have withstood a single hit more - hence the statement about winning because of the first shot. Your maths seem to be right from what I can tell.
If you want to "upgrade" to the CE boxed version, I believe we're planning an upgrade path to that for an additional charge. Sounds good to me, I hope it'll be available soon enough for release.
as far as I know the planetary invasion system hasnt been changed at all (or at least significantly) in GC2. As far as Beta 5 goes it is the same (except for animations). But - as I said before - I don't think detailed planet invasion battles fit in a strategical game which limits itself to show tactical fl
When the live GC2 is released, you'll want to re-evaluate any habits/assumptions you formed while playing the beta. That might be the hardest part! But I'm willing to do that sacrifice.
Yarlen is there a way for those of us that do purchase GCII via TGN subscription and Stardock Central to get the bonus items? I'm interested in a response as well, already sent a similar question to [email protected] some hours ago. (Contrary to Darth Griffin I'm obviously not a Gamma tester though.)
