Is this a dagger I see before me? :sniff!: [Wombat makes mental note to wear kevlar body armour to dinner]

1. Forget having a 'cultural' victory, in the sense that cultural and military are the same result. Really, we're talking about a victory by 'domination' - by conquering every planet. Simply call it that, no matter how it happens, so we are left with three really different routes to victory: domination, technological and political (alliance). Stop drastic point nerfing: final frontier shouldnt be worth only half of a domination win. 2. Make influence and diplomacy meaningful. The UP vot
Yeah....I know! ;p
vincible: I've just completed my first 1.12 game and...I didn't notice anything different, either. I'd like to respond from the point of view of a gamer who REALLY enjoys influence and diplomacy in 4X games, and has searched hard for games that employ this well. There aren't many, and I'd have to think of little known older games like 'Empires of the Fading Suns' before you could find one that modelled aspects most players would seek. I feel it is EXCEEDINGLY hard to incorporate in a game in a b
LOL Bugger! I knew those large games of yours would do me in eventually - congrats ;p :CONGRAT:
We'll make sure your time here is well spent! :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT:
sometimes they bite, sometimes they don't
Never say that to Jaws...it gives him ideas..... LOL
Agent Wombat! :SURPRISED: [Checks self in mirror] :HOT: "Damn, I'm lookin' good...." LOL
Jordan: play a few games before you throw it away! I plan to upgrade tonight, but even on 1.11 there were some maso games that I just couldn't get going. We talk about using Cntl-N to get a reasonable starting position, but the same applies to the AIs too. Most of the maso games I've had to throw away were really because an AI happened to get four planets in their starting sector (all high PQ) or two rich sectors adjacent to each other. In that situation, they came for me no matter what I offere
I dont have any expertise in the computer gaming industry, so wont presume to offer technical advice. As a consumer, IT companies of any sort (not only gaming) appear to be a high risk endeavour - the days of have a small working capital as a solo operator and developing the Next Big Thing might well be over. I would simply encourage you on the personal side; as a partner in my own business I would say being the captain of your own ship brings immense satisfaction as opposed to working
Uncle Pontius - congrats, mate! :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT:
Quack: a teacher should always know more than the students do!!! (It allows you to bluff them effectively when they ask those annoying questions). ;p Is it happening because your students are Korean, or that's the only place to get the data? Mate...they may be trying to BLUFF you...those URLs are probably for Korean porn sites.... [Message Edited]
Hurls - I think everyone was waiting for 1.12; given the comments about increased AI difficulty I think you might have some company (including me!).
Mayito - curse you! I'll be back.... Ben - aargh! Chill out dude; the rest of the squad will pull extra duty to compensate. Right, squad! Er...squad? Hi Piers! Hope baby and mother are well!
We are reserving our most effective weapons for the crunch moment of takeover ;p In the meantime, our own counterterrorism strategies are focused on defence against germ vectors by keeping our own blood alcohol levels significantly raised at all times; alcohol kills germs, you know. ;)
There you go missing out on one zero again
Blast! LOL LOL LOL Just put it down to wishful thinking! [Iron Paw starts thinking of ways to lure Ginata and Jaws into producing thousands of maso gigantic games...] Mayito - OK, the duel is ON! Chiacow plays mainly tiny games and generates lots of them; I had the impression that he had slowed down in recent times.
ric - are you concentrating on your population and morale early enough? I suspect that mid game economy boost is coming from the extra population that comes on board when you are flipping. If possible, try keeping morale way high (plus relevant trade goods if possible) early even if your spending slows a little. Perhaps have a look at the relative populations (yours and civs) to guide you? It's probably different on large/gigantic but this is a real factor on small maps. Good luck!
It's cool people - hey, now we're only 61000 behind the wizards! I'm playing other stuff at times to spice things up too; Tron 2.0 is a blast (especially if you remember the original movie) and I've even booted up Diablo 2 to check out the 1.10 patch. Great work Toothy One!! :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT:
Jaws - good one. It is very powerful to come up against those symbols. I had a patient who was one of the original Rats of Tobruk (died of old age now) and another who is an Auschwitz survivor still living. You cant escape the sense of what these people have been through when you meet them.... it's very moving. Ben - I think the time delay is 10-12 hours, so we're getting to work when you're settling down at home. As such, chat becomes impossible (for me, anyway) but occasional posting
we also play Darts
Heroic athletes, all.... LOL LOL LOL
Hey - it's 2003, right? I want 3D modelling of all data plus probability plots of game scoring up to 2047 ;p (and yes, I still plan to be Top 25 then) Seriously - is anyone in any doubt as to why this is happening? Stardock decided that maso players should be at the top of the scoring tree, so they developed an exponential scoring curve to make it so. Guess what - it worked. We've been over this before. Much as I have some sympathy for Technician's viewpoint and would prefer
And Wombie, that was a joke about Jane Eyre.
All right, ya bastard - I get it! ;p Sheesh...I'm never gonna live that one down....
Ah yes, arrive in the morning, turn the radio on and the special guest DJ has the house mix going...lovely! OK - I'm with Ben: what the hell are they talking about? Is this another literature classic I've missed (still feeling some chagrin over the Wuthering Heights episode)? Bakka's stats - we closed the gap on the wizards by 70,000 pts - great work! vincible - love it! (Oh, and you're back in your proper place again ;p )
Hey - cheers to Cypher and Killa for notching victories taking them into the Top 25! That's SIX of us there - great work. Cheers to Ginata and Jaws who continue their great work! GO SPECIAL FORCES!!! :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT:
Hey - I LOVED the Viagra comment (acutally used on in a story, once). I reckon if Yoda makes it himself, it's fair game! LOL
