I'm not jumping for joy just yet. Sequels have been disappointments before. If Warcraft III as a sequel to Warcraft II is any indicator, I'm going to wait and see.

What we need is Al Gore telling us that pollution is bad for our health. Then everyone will believe pollution is good for us, just to spite him.
Thinking about the thermodynamics of the earth, I don't think the additional heat sources is what's doing it. The earth has always been able to dissipate heat, which is a function of its surface area (a constant), and the temperature differential between it and space. As the heat sources go up, so does the temperature differential, so the heat dissipates faster to compensate for it. Think of a hunk of molten steel at 2000 degrees in a room at room temperature. Degree-for-degree, you know it
Your numbers are off by quite a bit dude. Are you modding?
Oh yeah. You can ferry 6B population to all the class-1 worlds and they'll actually make you money.
Don't just use laser weapons, use missile defenses. The off-type defense bug works both ways.
15 speed for a TRANSPORT is remarkable. You're blowing an awful lot of money into that transport that's going to just go away first thing you invade.
That's awesome. I might be so happy playing Galciv2 I might not bother buying the fantasy strategy game. JUST KIDDING, JUST KIDDING.....
Cost of colony ship in early game: 70-125. Cost of 8 empty tiny hulls: 200. I don't see why it isn't just better to build colony ships. You can reuse the tiny ships, but once you use the colony ship it is gone. It's possible that you could blockade, colonize, repeat. Also, you don't have to use your star planets to make 25bc ships. Any planet could do that in a couple turns. I spam tiny hulls with survey modules already (t
You can also rush-buy embassies on any bonus tiles the new planet may have. That will only cost around 200 bc.
Could you explain that a bit more? Is it because you only get the ship defense boost if you already have some defense on the ship? That was confusing me in the DA campaign... That's exactly what it is. There's an early upgrade to the Military Starbase that boosts all your ships' defenses by 1 in EACH category (3 total), but only if you have 1 defense on your ship to begin with. That turns your 0-0-1 defense ships into 1-1-2's. VERY helpful.
You have to ferry boat in population as soon as you conquer his planets. Get it up to 2.5 billion right away.
I'm not too crazy about the blockade strategy myself, but I do like to toy with the AI some as it's convenient, and one trick is to steer the AI toward all the crappy planets. He has the colony ships, they're going to colonize something--you just try to blockade him into colonizing the trash. Plus, I noticed from doing some espionage that, once the AI sets his autopilot, that's where he's going to go; so, if you can make that path hard to get to, you can really buy some time. If you simply
I don't see where you find the time to build all those ships. When I start a game, I'm cranking out colony ships, constructors, and survey ships as fast as I can, and I don't have the starports or the money to put out anything else. However, sometimes I can outmaneuver the AI on a much smaller scale, usually with the survey ships. You can place your ship between the AI and his target, and make him fall short by just one movement point. I get an extra anomaly here-and-there that way a
I will say this much for sure: if you're using military starbases, getting one point of defense on your ships has ALWAYS been useful. I beat the Dread Lord campaign with that.
I almost never research Extreme Colonization. Research Planetary Invasion--you can colonize all the planet types that way.
I don't think you can generalize and say you should always stop colonizing before the AI. It depends on the map and your race. For example, if you're playing Korath, don't even bother colonizing. Why colonize when you can spore?
Defense was useful in DL???
You're getting transports with 15+ movement? In Dark Avatar? It does look like you can slap on a cheap size-7 laser for 25 bc, though. I've never done that. I have dedicated cargo hulls with 1 laser and lots of engines that do that.
You also get Micro Repair Bots with the second one, which you can trade way for stuff. But after that, yeah, I question whether it's worth it. All it does is make your ships more expensive.
Have we validated that "bonus" production due to power plants is at half-price? I know that bonus production from economy starbases is half-price, but I was under the impression that you pay 100% for power plants. I haven't crunched the numbers myself, though.
If only RoN:Thrones & Patriots had more campaigns (or had a campaign editor), I would still be playing it to this day.
May the right side win.
I've always been doing missiles because Psyonic Missiles stand out dollar-for-dollar. But these charts do seem to indicate that Lasers may be the better choice, unless you think you can wait all the way to Psyonic Missiles before you go to war. I know I go to war long before that.
For that matter, MUD's were completely free. It was free public domain software that let you host your own MMORPG, and volunteers became wizards who developed/supported the game on their own free time. The whole idea of MMORPG's came from MUD.
