Reply to Game crashes immediately upon starting it in Galactic Civilizations I Stardock Forums

I've encountered the same problem today. I run Win98. Everything is up to date. No sound other than music, either. I had sound effects before the update. The codex file change offered by tech did not help. :(

Well, now it crashes just as soon as my latest saved games load, and I get to the summary screen...Okay, what's up?

I have music but no other sound after loading the latest upgrade. No joy on the codex file. It would be nice to fix this.
