Looks like the republic just got another member. Congrats
Gengsta
Actually Staffa has never won one on Huge either. It's been thwarting him every single time.
Penalties would be nice. It would give more flavor to each party, too! I just don't think AI would handle disadvantages very well.
For names with animal themes: Extinct Species Protectors with slogan: The platypus, the drop bears, what other species should be long gone by now? the Dregins, the Torians, the Arceans, the Yors, and the Altarians, of course. The Animal Planet Terrestrial Center for Divergent Evolution with slogan: Aussies and Kiwis and Altarians: what 50 million years could do to you. [Message Edited]
Yeah, gigantic maps allows you to research really quickly, especially later on.
Wouldn't be so hard if you had a more active membership. That's what is winning it for them right now. And really that's what this loose alliance is trying to get at, more activity.
Tech trading is essential, and for that you'll need to be close the leader in research. You'll need Ray to give you some advice there. I can keep up early on, but later I fall behind so far behind. Once you get past battleship, it's pretty much over.
ahh, I knew I was missing something. Ok that explains everything.
Hey, anyone know what constellation the southern cross was part of? I knew this but it's been a while.
Theme empires tend to get more activity because that is what keeps the empire alive, continuation of the theme. With locality empires, passive presence is fine since by living where one lives membership is a matter of fact. So to liven things up or attract more active members like the MWC and ANZAC want, they need to provide a theme. Also theme empires invariably have a better average member score. It would be nice to have informal groupings for the betterment of the atmosphere
and to think that GROSS and MWC were once considering a merger... what were they thinking!!!
Nice suggestion ThelebK. Did you notice that those three players contribute two-fifth of their empire's gross meta points? That is insane.
I have to say, the posts by Mad Prophet were priceless. I loved those two exchanges. And ThelebK, the exchange between you and Ray was excellent, too. Now the pirates that kept butting in. That's a different story. :p
What size map do you play most often on, Xavier? On anything bigger than large with difficulty below incredible, I can concede one trade good, usually the diplomatic translators, and build all the rest. Most of the time, it is the minors that construct the wonders. There is a small chance that it is the Dregins instead. After the first trade good is finished, I will have met all the minors and bankrupt them by trading them all my tech. This doesn't work on maso, but the majors
Ok, Cari has my saved games, I hope she makes some progress on fixing the bug!
I don't think any of us players really knows that answer since it doesn't show up anywhere in the game. The only ones with the answer will be the developers. Try asking some of the stardock employees in the GalCiv chatroom. You'll get your answer quicker. You can access the chatroom by mIRC or by SDC.
Awesome, another masochistic player. Great! Nice to see more people step up to the challenge. I, on the other hand, have been suffering a streak of unluckiness on that difficulty.
It works best if you are not the most powerful race in the galaxy. ~SDC~
I like keeping our individuality. Mergers always lose players.
Are you submitting under the right name Ungerpup?? I think you should be submitting under your player name, which in this case is Ungerpup. [Message Edited]
Eh, name it something else.
Someone has asked me to upload to them the 1.5 patch...I dont know who but they say they cant get it... hmm I'm wondering whether or not to do it.
Tell them to contact stardock. I believe the patch that you DL will only work with your Serial, so it won't help anybody.
Was that an unprecedented 7 posts by PBP in a row?? And Ray, a loose confederation is pretty close to what we have now. Giving actual status will encourage more activity along those lines. The the theme empires participate in one another's threads all the time. ~SDC~
I agree with you. Establishing hegemony is better for all types of victories. It's just that to get a tech victory, you cannot ignore infrastucture during the rush. It would be better to support a slower attack, not hemorrhage your population away, and put some money in social improvements. Maybe make a trade good or a galactic wonder, at least an economic or a manufacturing capital.
No this is not specific to the beta. One game, transports were given +10 attack by the UP. For much of the early game, I was placing 1 mil Transports as the vanguard of my attack followed by frigates to clear orbital ships. The AI I was at war with was sending Corvettes in to attack and getting stoned every single time. The transports even took out a frigate during the offensive. Everyone thought I was the most powerful military with my 40+ transports. Note I was playing agains
