the only score that changed at all was the metaverse points score From researching it vs trading for it. The tech subscore remained the same. An interesting curiosity.
Wow, I would not have guessed that. Last post to KitWarrior [Message Edited]

I would explain it myself, but this site does it a whole lot better. http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll and http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll
um haven't won one in a long time. Large is a bit too hard for me. I've stopped using ctr-n to see if surrounding stars are better with less starting PQ. Right now it seems the starting condition makes no difference, and I keep getting stoned by the 3rd AI to rush.
Uh oh, that is probably going to get you demoted on the forum. In the future please refrain from such profanity and you may gain status as a valued citizen on the forum in the future. Meanwhile, might I suggest a psychologist? It will help you with your anger problem, among others. [Message Edited]
http://galciv.come/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=76765 There's some info on some top empires. If you want more divinations, you should look around the White Council. If you want more pirate booty, look at GROSS. If you want to find some MidWestern farm boys, the MDC is there. If you want to be Euro, Aussie or Canadian, there are empires for you. If you want Starwars/Roman, there's the Republic. I don't know about the Spiders. The Gamma Squad is Frogboy's private army. CDC is into moddin
any image editing software can do it. Under Win 2000 you should have a program call Windows Imaging or Imaging for Windows. It's under Accessories unless you removed it in a custom install. If you have Win XP you should have it, too. If you have anything earlier, grab some free imaging software off the net. If you have a Mac, they should all come with imaging software. Anyways, once you have your imaging software, open up your picture, and SAVE AS in JPG format. And Done! <
yeah this is a known bug/cheese. If you were militarily strong, you would have been able to sue for peace and get 140,000 bc for 50 turns on the first turn they appeared. The dreadlords use to be a game ending event, but has since been toned down quite a bit. Now players can use them to supercharge their economy if they wish.
Hmm, you were withholding information in last post. You said nothing of the relative size of the difference except that researching were a bit more or of the value to the AI. I'm sorry I misused 'junction' instead of 'juncture'. Also I did not state that I assumed your three trails did not end the game on the same turn and thus you did not isolate the source of the differences in points to only researching and trading of techs. Again, it seemed logical from your description of your expe
yeah, it's really difficult on the larger maps. I tend to use the ships listing to locate my mini-freighters on large or bigger maps. On gigantic. It's absolutely essential. And I agree, the straight line trade path is really deceiving. Not only do the mini-freighters not follow the line, they don't travel by the same path to and from your trading partner.
Maybe the negligible difference could be because the tech was useless. But we can see that it's much harder to test for key techs. So at this junction, we can only accept Ray's guess.
damn, Sarcasto! I don't know about that. If the playing environment is noisy, I might resort to that. Predicable loud music is better than random noise. But under normal circumstances, no. Different strokes for different folks.
convert it into one, should be easy edited for redundancy [Message Edited]
The Yors have a pretty good soothing music for their theme. Most classical minuets are pretty good, and some waltzs are ok. I personally like classical dance scores because they upbeat, but not such that they would put you over the edge with excitement. Celtic music is an excellent call, Cari.
wow, someone dug this thread out of the past!! Let it die, my friend. No need to open closing wounds.
Not such a bad idea, Yor receives a penalty for spying, but everyone else receives a penalty for spying on them. to Staffa: Do you know if the AI spends any money on espionage?? If they never do or never need to, then we would just give the Yor, the weakest AI a much needed handicap over the human player. If they do, then the two penalties will just cancel out.
I got it for free. :) One of my friends got the game along with $2. The value of the game went through the floor after everyone realized how rushed to release the game was.
I've had two recent event wars despite the fact that I had advanced espionage so I seriously don't know why I still want to pour money there.
That, I think is incredibly unlucky.
Certainly doesn't make too much sense. At first I thought I could get some advantage by espionage and knowing their income and cashflows and racial modifiers, but after getting the feel of the game I could just guess everything with the help of the diplo screen and be on target most of the time. And in times of war I would use sensor drones or scouts to get all the info I needed for proper battle planning. I've noticed that espionage doesn't really prevent those events from hap
Yeah, current espionage is of limited use. With the addition of the capability to locate enemy ships during peace times would make espionage even less worthwhile.
Oh the screen shots were very nice, HFO. The interface looks much better.
Hey HFO, Is the hyperlinking for ships on the Diplo screen pretty much have the same info as they do for the stars? Attack attribute, defensive attribute, speed, sector, etc. If they are giving the sector info for every ship, that's very revealing espionage on maps with size greater than medium.
Does it have problems with M3U playlists created by Winamp 3?
Not at all, it shouldn't have a problem.
How many songs can you have in the playlist, is there a limit.
As long as the list continues, it continues playing the next one. Repeats at end.
The problem I am having is the song names just scroll on the window very fast with no way to stop them, it continually rolls through all the songs in the list.
<b
Welcome zyk2001. It seems the White Tower has attracted a large number intellects willing to engage in debate and I'm one of them. The best way to slow invasions down is if the AI knows how to manuveur ships tactically and strategically: defensive starbase construction in key sectors, group defensive positions, delaying action, and counter attack. That whole bit of choosing your battles and the site of battles is lost. In Civ3, the speed impedence, the conquered resistence, and
bump this up to the top
So if you plan to use starbases to enhance trade then it is best to have vertical or horizontal trade routes.
Not, so with speed modifiers you can make a diagonal trade route average far more than a pure horizontal/vertical. You'll start off slightly disadvantaged, but reap in the benefits later.
