No it should remain an ADVANTAGE for the AI. IT can raze cities upon capture but the player will always have to wait a few turns before doing so. That will make the ai more challenging and if nothing else it should at least become an OPTION to turn on or off so the candyland players can walk all over the ai.

Just make it where the AI AUTOMATICALLY heals all wounds after a certain amount of time. ;) (On higher difficulties of course)
IMO, it's not the AI, it's the game. If your primary army is crushed and the AI is marching on your cities, you'll also find it very hard to 'recover' as well (crank up the difficulty and you'll see). This is doubly so since all the other factions will pile on the weaker of the two. The game just doesn't have a mechanic for you to recover from a devastating loss (losing your stack of doom). Once you hit that tipping point,
There is still some low hanging fruit the AI hasn't made good use of that I'mworking on. For example, it's still pretty rotten about using strategic spells and it's rotten at late game researching that's going to just require me to do a bit of hard coding to make it better at FE specifically. In tactical, the AI is still poor about using items it finds. Bottom line, there's a lot of area
Go play Age of Wonders....it's easy on Expert difficulty hehe This game is more like chess even though you know how to move all the pieces it could take years to figure out how to be good at it.
You just got 1.01 and now you're wanting 1.02? Geesh isn't anybody ever happy with what they have. Ask not what your developer can do for you, but what YOU can do for your developer. ;)
Take a lesson from the Parthians of old ancient times. Hvy Cavalry, Mtd Bowmen, spearmen (counter for cavalry) lightning bolts and fireballs will kick butt everytime unless countered with the same in cavalry strength as the Romans found out. I threw in the lightning bolts and fireballs from Braveheart William Wallace. ;) I've always found range and speed to be the best tactical strategy in just about every wargame or strategy game if you will I've played. of course Artillery

But to label anyone who likes the game a fanboy with clouded judgment? You mean calling anyone writing glowing reviews of the game a fanboy. Like I said, judging this game in context you can like it but you can't say it's an 8 out of 10 honestly, giving it a 7 is generous when it
We did write USER reviews and FE got around a 73 why do you want more?
Quoting willie sanderson, reply 189 Quoting KingHobbit, reply 151I disagree with all ^ I definitely want fantasy races like Master of Magic. It's a fantasy game afterall so bring in the fantasy races. Especially hobbitssssss I'd rather play an original game than a Tokenesque pastiche. As I said in one thread, it would be a disservice to the game to slap
roads in river tiles don't seem to do much. i think it would be awesome if we could get bridges across rvers, automatically built whenever a road crosses a river (after discovering a certain tech?) that would allow the road to operate at normal efficiency for units walking along it, and not get slowed down by the water.
Poor idea we don't need bridges. Fjords maybe....bridges nope. ;)
Quoting Lord Xia, reply 149 I don't want standard fantasy races. Lets add races that are in the lore that haven't previously been playable. Edar? Iru? Maybe Sions as a race of it's own? And the Drath should make a comeback too. Quoting Emperor_Nero, reply 148 I don't want to see fantasy races in FE. I am not sure why people d
GREAT IMPROVEMENT over 1.0 If you have the machine to run this game it's great. If you're trying to play with a rellic then yeah you're gonna have poor performance. Spend some money get a good machine and put granny to bed. ;) Also turning off all unrequired and un-needed programs in task manager helps as well. You really only need explorer and taskeng running in the background. (besides the actual game of course lol)
Please make a random ai that copies every move the player makes sort of a whatchamacallit doppleganger is it? But, with just a pinch more power so when the smarty pants come waltzing over with their power stacks or using their power spells this ai will also. That would be sooooooooo awesome and I would just love the cries on the forums of how the ai is cheating. lol There's two great games I've seen developers do this with so far and one was a recent MMO "Guild Wars" and
You got 50k sales above and beyond all the free editions you handed out? I'd say that's quite impressive considering the first games reviews and the users scores coming in at Metacritic are in the 7.3 range. Yes quite impressive indeed. As far as the map pak I'd be interested if they were a "CLOTH MAP" boxed edition as I always enjoyed the cloth maps of the Ultima series and hung them on my walls with pins in them at points of interest. I still have my giant 48"
Quoting willie sanderson, reply 3 As well it should. The best way to beat a humaaan player for the AI is to raze his/her cities upon capture! WAD Keep up the good work Brad et al. There is a five turn limit until you are able to raze a city. The AI is ignoring it. So, no, this is not WAD.
The ai shouldn't have to wait 5 turns it's the ai afterall. WAD Keep up the good work
I'd say road bugs and most movement bugs are unimportant compared to everything else. Just learn what's what and deal with it. ;)
I should note, both of these games bore me after about 30 minutes with their simplistic game play.
I stopped reading there ^ because that PROVED you aren't a good reviewer.
I recommend to any and all before you buy from Steam look for another source to get your games from like Gamersgate, GoG, Gamefly, and of course independent publishers/distributers like Matrixgames, Shrapnel, Slitherine, HPS simulations and others. Make sure when you buy from them they don't say 3rd party client source required because that usually means STEAM gestapo SS!! Remember EA games and distribution are like STEAM now also and they are even worse than STEAM.
Disagree on Diplomacy and feel that is something that should be almost completely removed except for trade agreements as when a human player gets an alliance with a computer AI he/she is just WEAKENING the computer AI's position. Only trade agreements should be allowed to bargain for and that only until the time of war between the two begins. This was how Master of Magic did it. In the beginning it was pretty easy to get some trades with the AI but as the game progressed in
Its not the 7 that is the problem, its the fact that the reviewer doesnt get the game and he it holding it against FE. An example of a hopeless statement in my opinion: "the overall problem with Enchantress's early game: you have to go out and explore and gain experience, but you are too often punished for doing so." Is he suggesting that FE should be like a docile zoo where you are in no dange
If you read the gamespy review, you would wish that the major sites never touched TBS. Its pathetic.
THey gave it a 7 that was about what was expected by the masses that voted in the Metacritic thread. This about the AI made me laugh
Its suicidal logic seems to be, "Now that you've taken my capital and main fortress, you're in big trouble!"
That's ok there's plenty of PLAYER reviews and those are coming in around the LOW 70's. It's going to get average reviews because of the first one as when you leave a bad taste in someones mouth it's hard to convince them the 2nd round is better. ;)
I agree the AI does NOT CHEAT, what happens is that it gets to SOME UNFAIR ADVANTAGES and HANDICAPS. Now I'm not against advantages and handicaps and even to the point of UNFAIR as long as the DIFFICULTY setting is high or highest I don't even see UNFAIR advantages and handicaps. I know the AI can only be programed to do so much in a game. The more stuff there is to do in a game the lesser the AI is going to be. Take a game like Warlords IV vs this game or the Total War game and
