Joetheblow you wouldnt believe how long it took me to figure that one out.Oh,wait a minute you've used SS so you probably would. I love SS but my biggest problem is remembering which settings on which branch dont have any effect.Especially with respect to text settings.Probably a third of my time skinning was wasted dealing with useless or unsolvable issues.Hopefully future builds will deal with some of these
Pic those are probably affected too.Mike i did switch them back to system fonts and they look better but still no action with the content margins.

In my pull down(or popup menus)I cant get the text to center in the mouseover.Fiddled with the content margins but they dont seem to do anything.Plus the text sometimes runs all the way to the edge of the menu.Do some fonts not react the way they should?

My best tip is about shellstyle glyphs(those images at the lower right of my pictures,my music etc...)After hours of frustration at having them disappear mysteriously I found that if the top left pixel in the image didnt match EXACTLY with the explorer window background color they would not show.As long as that one pixel was the same they reappeared.
The most important resource for skinning I found was right under my nose...other skins!Find one that works the way you like and look at how they solved problems.Pay close attention to misc. settings and margins.(not telling you to copy anything)The only way i got winamp buutons to work was to open a skin where they already worked and learn from that.
I like the idea of a skinners page.

That one messes with lots of skins.I dont even remember if changing the default system text color affected it.Think that may be one reason so many skins use grey color schemes.Less trouble getting text to work across the entire skin

I bought SkinStudio XP But when i look under the "help about" it says just SkinStudio ver. 3.0.0 build 619.No reference to XP.Is this SS XP?Also i see references to SS ver.3.9.?.Is this the newest version?Which one am i supposed to be using?Stardock webpage is a little unclear about this.
