Thank you to everyone who is supporting this thread. There are some very interesting ideas and some good points are being made. Lets hope its worthwhile. Keep the comments coming, please
BTW - read the installation instructions carefully and don't forget to save your old skins before uninstalling old version
Whilst skulking around the net today i decided to check the versions of some of the software on my 'pooter. I came across an update to Rainlender now at version 0.17.1.0 and then i see that Sysmetrix has launched a new all singing and dancing version, number 3. check it out http://www.xymantix.com/sysmetrix/download.html [Message Edited]
Fuzzy........you are a bad man
gef.......as brazil says........i only just realised today that there is a new version out
treetog........thank you for your valuable imput which is greatly appreciated.........perhaps this time we will be successful. Come on people..........lets hear from you
thanks guys for your imput joetheblow......you touch on something that i was going to bring into this thread later but i will mention it now......its a shame that Deskmod is not running because this would have given us an idea of how popular a Rainlendar section would be. This site seemed to me the most popular for most Rainy fans of which quite a few are members here.
I have just upgraded my CPU, Ram and graphics card and halved my boot up time
KG......interesting figures......does show a certain amount of apathy towards giving admins an idea of what we would like to see section wise on this site which is rather discouraging. If it comes down to not having more sections or size then lets get rid of Colour Pad and Kewl Pad which seem to me under utilized. KG.........another aspect that is worth considering is the fact that all the top skinners and suites have rainlendar skins made for the suite by either the skinner th
Oh......just realised i should have said that you only need to put the skins from the old skins folder into the new skins folder all except default, shadow and candy as they are already in the new one.
Hey, there is another Leo on this site........welcome friend
Just realised that my Rainlendar programme was out-of-date. Version 0.17.1.0 is out now on Rainys site. I find the best way to up date your version is to first move the skins folder out of the old programme and put it on your desktop. Then uninstall Rainlendar. After that download and install the new version of Rainlendar. Then reboot. When system is back again open the skins folder on your desktop and transfer the skins one at a time back into the new skins folder within the Rainlendar programm
Some more "food for thought" - How many people make and use skins for Colour Pad and Kewl Pad ???? - judging by the libraries not a lot on either side of the fence.
thks bluesummers and zodiaq bluesummers, some of your rainlendar skins are real quality in your screenshots and if we had a rainy section your skins would be very popular if you chose to upload them
Thank you everyone for your support..........please keep your comments coming
thanks windknot, LoneCactus and don for your support
PhrozenMenace..........thanks for your imput
KG........i do not wish to appear a "smart alec" but the largest library that i can find is more than you have stated. DA has around 200 Rainlendar skins.
thanks little jerry for your support
KG.........Boss, well said, thank you.........again all i am trying to do is canvass popular opinion to see if there is a case for a Rainlendar library The Lion runs off back to the jungle to see if he can find some like minded felines
AP67......thank you for your support. Kona............2ghz wow........i would be licking my lips if you put one of those in my hands
Little Jerry......this has been subject to discussion before and i cannot remember the outcome. Don't forget there are many, many other programmes out there which people make skins for which are popular but not on Wincustomize. We cannot cater for all the Wincustomize "families" needs but we certainly should listen to popular demands and i think Rainlendar appears sufficiently popular to warrant raising this issue again <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/smile.gif" border=0 ALIGN
Kona......you make a valid point however the vast majority of people are running XP now with suitable CPU's and RAM. Even i upgraded my CPU to, wait for it, a 1.4ghz AMD athlon the other day with 512mb of DDR ram and my 'pooter is now a flying machine........but as you quite rightly point out not everyone has a machine fast enough to run DX2 comfortably.
Little Jerry.......Hmmmm, i thought of that but Wincustomize is not as "shallow" as that........The admins and moderators of this site always look at everything fairly and also listen to popular opinion of its members and take all of this into consideration regardless of whether the product is made by Stardock or not.
