In my last game, the drengin were at war with everyone but me - drengin were in first place, i was second, and the others were getting mauled. I wasn't at war with any of them, but they all surrendered to each other instead of me. Grr. Oh well, at least it kept both sides busy while i sent some combat transports in :)

Hey, can you guys check the score (or trash it) on the suicidal (with five fools?!?) pure evil game i submitted? I still think it looks way off.
Only if they submit :) [Message Edited]
Yeah, some of the fight scenes were kinda fun (I liked all the clone agent smiths watching neo rocket off, then wander around like lost sheep), but it felt too much like "oy, let's fight!" "them's fighting words!" BANG KAPOW ZAP (five minutes later) "so, are we done yet?" "nar, check the script. we've still got another two minutes to fill in before the next scene." "oh, right" BASH ZAP CLONK re uni: Yeah, I learned that lesson a few years
7. We just have to remember everything our computer provides for us. What was that quote - "galciv's the hottest piece of ass on the block, AND SHE PUTS OUT!" (sorry, can't remember whose it was) The problem is, these values of abuse are ingrained in our society - it's just not ready for a horde of "computer users" to suddenly declare themselves "computer lovers." (imagining the office scene) "Hey, joe, where that's bloody report! The meeting's on in five
Special resources. Once you've mapped them, you get the minimap marker if they're unoccupied, but once another race grabs them, the marker disappears. You should be able to always see something, even if a base is parked on top.
My brain's had a system crash. This is really turning into Bizarro World. So, how long before the fan conventions and the "collector's edition" of GalCiv with autographs (r.r.p. $500)? You've got enough vice-presidents to organize all that by now :D
Oh, absolutely uncalled for. Freya could sue him for slander, and force him to stand down while the charges are investigated. If you guys did that before their big elections, you could throw them into anarchy, since there's no procedure mentioned for a replacement. And, since that's about as much damage as one empire can actually DO to another here, you can declare a massive victory to boot.
"we have 4 in the top 27 including Quack the newbie" One of my saves got messed up, caused I upgraded before submitting it. The suicidal pure evil one was actually against a bunch of fools, it's just messed up the difficulty level. I already told the admins. Sorry to disappoint, I'm not a newbie prodigy or anything :-p Now, I've gotta split my time between making empires, writing gibberish, and going to uni once in a while. I'm most probably gonna stay on small maps, but u
"RayChua, sent the new jpg. TheQuack, is that Australian for threat." It's Australian for "ignore me, i'm just a numpty" LOL
I'm sure there was a sketch on the TV show with random exploding animals. The rabbit didn't explode until he met the Holy Hand Grenade, remember? Hmm... I see a new good/evil event: Our sociologists have discovered a new species of hyper-bunnies on Botox. This harmless pest species (from the planet Duracell) are a delicacy among the Deregin, but only when killed slowly, and prepared a certain way - any ranged weapons ruin the flavour. The species is not native to the planet, we
Yeah, fixing dead production and re-distributing it based on the empire's slider settings should be easy to put in. The only problem I see with doing just that and nothing else is if you set the sliders to say, mil = 0, soc = 50, res = 50, then your fully developed planet will go 100% research, and your border planet will go half/half social and research, so you're really getting 25% social, 75% research. And that could look kinda confusing after a while. The only way to really get 50% soci
Hmm. I suppose you're right. Shame... Hang on, I just remembered something from Monty Python - the exploding animals! Is it still politically correct to do that nowadays? If not, I can just go back to rigging detpacks to kegs. Oh, btw I'm happy with Quack, TheQuack's just a formal title :p
Well, I managed to get my submissions in, but I made the mistake of adding a save game from the previous version. I played against a bunch of fools (literally), but it says the difficulty was suicidal, and the score looks messed up. Can you guys trash that game for me? Cheers.
Of course, evil empires could still get some trade without the UP, cause they've got smuggling and the mob. Tying in good/evil with how much the AI believes you could also be interesting :)
"While I appreciate the time and thought that went into the above, had you bothered to read past threads you would know that planet specific sliders stand as much chance of being implemented as does multiplayer (that is to say this is fundamental game design decision that won't ever be changed)." I know. That's why it doesn't use planet specific sliders. The only sliders used are the same whole-empire ones we've got now. The governers for each planet are a simple toggle (military / soci
Two words: Dick Smith. Throw our new-found wealth at him, and he'll make enough new products to get us through :)
(edit button not showing up) Something I thought about, but forgot to mention - discovering new buildings. If you're not using governors, just add it to the build queue where you want it. It'll get put in when the selected planets get out of step (like the two labs). Same with governed planets, only that'll wait until you change funding or turn off the governor. Of course, you can do the same thing with the sliders. If you've developed a new building that you want on your resea
Hehe, in the game I'm on now, I'm on great terms with the I-League, but they're at war with the Drengin and Arcean. They were mainly just defending, so I went, built a fat defensive starbase next to their planet, and gave it to them. Took out a lot of enemy ships before they got it, then I just did it again. Both sides kept blowing up each other's trade routes to me, but I was having too much fun to care. Pure evil is, well evil. But so pure. :)
Chris - Only if I can be stupid and ask what "Pinot" stands for (some sort of wine, from, uh, somewhere. I think...) TF = Team Fortress (mod for Half-Life). My modem was too laggy to do any sniping or offensive stuff, but I liked setting up explosive traps for people trying to grab my flag. That, or pull the pin, run up, and give them a nice bear hug. Ah, the good old days. At least lag isn't a problem here. Slitherin - I remember enough that I know I should remember w
Hmm. Hmmmmm..... MUHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!! MY MASTER PLAN IS COMPLETE! You've tasted real beer. (I'm not talking Fosters here.) It was good, hey? Real good, I'll bet! But you can't get it there any more. There's only one place that makes good beer: AUSTRALIA! (Well, NZ probably does have a good brew I've missed, but they're in our power bloc, so nyar.). You're gonna go have to go for imported, your beer gut will accept no substitute. And you know what means? That's a boost to
Those auto buttons would work for cash, but saying "what tech will you give me for numpty-bots?" could come up with any of the equal-valued techs he's prepared to trade. Actually, what could be done is the techs are listed in cost order, and the ai tells you the lowest one on the list, so you can see that everything above it is also available. They could also do the list of goodies on his side in yellow and green, based on what you've offered. Then, you can just scroll the
My ideal empire has have slave planets building starships, other core planets doing research, and frontier planets building up their infrastructure. I can't do that. If I want a ship, it's either get every planet building other ships, waste a chunk of every planet's industry, or buy it outright and waste money. First, there needs to be something set up that spilts spending on each planet based on what jobs it can do. REALLY. If the Mil/Soc/Res ratio is 2/4/4, and there's nothing in the
Gimme a knife and some money, and I'll make you run :SURPRISED:
Disclaimer: I am a n00b. If some of these are in the game and I haven't figured it out, sorry. Some are repeated from previous posters, I'm just adding my comments to them. I understand things like tactical combat and ship design aren't going to happen, so I'll try and remember that. My biggest gripe is with the sliders, but I'm thinking up something else for that - I'll get back to ya. Planet types - I like slave planets and tech planets. It'd be nice to have planet-fixed
