this might be old news,but.. all you have to do to recolor a skin (if you really dont wunna use the WB feature) is run a color brush over it in photoshop. i wouldn't say a recoloring takes ANY skill at all. building one or porting one maybe because you have to put it together. but opening up the images and just shading them...eh.. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALI
i've shut down explorer.exe befoe and still had objectbar and object dock running.. but why would you want to turn off the shell? basically you can still start programs (try it out.. open task menu and close exlorer, but use the 'run' option to launch new things) but it'll be crippled.

say i have a transparent blue gradient over my desktop, you see it as a transparent blue gradient which fades out hte background. a screenshot will capture exactly what you see.. the transparency included... if you want to just take an application or window, hold the alt+winkey+print screen and it will take only that window. with object desktop loaded tho, those programs sometimes interfere and get captured instead. so for best results turn off objectbar and object dock then make the window you

APC is an extremely friendly site. i have yet to see one childish or attacking post. i until of course all of us start showing up there...
koasati i've always thought it was the other way around in rendering the image.. while ico is native to windows, its being used as an image within objectdock.. but not an image as easily manipulated as a png. it is not an icon in the sense of being used by the shell. my toshiba satallite didnt have a whole lot of punch in its video, and running a dock full of icons was very sluggish and choppy whereas a dock full of png's was fast and smooth.
i'd like to look at it less as complaining and more of a question of 'why'.. while you say its the PC's who start the fight, it looks like a lot of us here have all come across the kind of person i described, and i'm just wondering why these people have that mindset.. why they don't want to listen to me tell them what i'm comfortable with and just accept there is nothing wrong with a pc? i think it'd be fun to visit an apple forum and start up a similar conversation on their side to see

if you're using icons instead of png images, that will rob you of processing time also. i'm sure someone will have a remedy for you without having to go to a new program like objectbar

oh hell no. last thing i'd want is someone having a background applied under a website i designed spacifically to not have one.. or do you mean behind the toolbar? such a thing existed for ie 4 and 5.. dunno what happened to it... wouldn't that fall under webblinds/windowblinds?
a couple years ago i had this problem with viewing television on my machine. pre-xp/catalyst, i could only view cable tv on my primary monitor.. so i had to make my 27 in monitor my primary screen even though it was only 800x600.. therefore i had objectbar and everything primary on that monitor, and ran all my high res stuff on my second monitor. of course i had hydravision to make things easier (like repositioning dialog boxes).
maybe they buy pc's more often because they cost less. hell i'm just teasing again.. they all use the same hardware nowadays, as i said. one therefore shouldn't live any longer then the other. as long as the person isn't beating on it with a hammer. i won't accept a pc only averages 2 years.. people might want to replace/upgrade them af

games are comming out more and more on mac platform now.. NWN and unreal for example..and im thrilled NWN is now out on apple, means i can play with the rest of my friends. more apple computers were sold in the last two years then were in the last TEN years put together. expect to see even more programs for that OS, along with more and more cross platform compatability. its sucha nice feeling to be able to take an AI9 file to a mac without any conversion issues, or save a word document and brin
the most common thing i hear, being in the graphics industry of course, is that macs will handle graphics better. i suppose that might be true on the cache level... but while one car might be faster then the other with the same engine because of the way the transmission is designed, i have basically the same hardware as my gf's dual g4... we both have 128 meg radeons and a gig of memory, and my athlon xp 1.5 works a whole lot faster in processing large photoshop images. so i just havn't seen th
this has been touched on a few times... it will not go on monitor #2.. however you can switch the physical positions of your monitors (or just switch which cable goes to what monitor) and move everything like your task bar and all over primary monitor stuff over to the second.. sort of just make your one monitor into your second one, switch them, so object dock/bar will be in the position you want <img src="ht
