they should push people to update, the fixes in ie7 should take a big weight off of their backs. For the 90% of people who don't read the prompts when they hit 'ok', you patch them up to be less of a hazard to themselves. I'm glad that they also permit those who want to stay on 6 to do so.

i can't see this doing anything to help kazaa. Losing a hundred million is never a win. It will become a pay for use service, far behind itunes, napster, msn, and urge. P2P sharing of legitimate tracks? how many of those will be floating around, i wonder? I can only see kazaa p2p surviving if it chose to cater only to independents, and those labels which sign up for distrubution. Kazaa's hopes then lie in advertising or promotions. Frankly

my new lappy is running XP home..after the first day, when i was installing software, i have not rebooted it once, in two weeks. It goes through heavy usage and is woken up and put back to sleep/hibernated 4 or 5 times a day. One boot. No problems. It is, however, a laptop. The general concerns range from 'not worth the extra resources load' to 'whats the point'. i could care less about the work arounds and the lucky people who have the right hardware. The administrators, the developers. I'm worried about the average clutsy PC user. ALl those extra programs ( rather, perceived needed programs ) you need just to keep XP running properly is the real disaster. The machine must work for the guy who just clicks buttons and doesnt read anything. It has to work without 20 million questions being prompted before hand.
