Tried to think of something witty to justify the bump... but I've tooo busy trying to reconstruct the Who wins this battle fleet composition, well that and trying to post an image, sothis will just have to do.

I am actually curious about fleet sim, because I think the average ship terrans would be easier not harder to beat so it I am curious to know if fleet sim is calibrated correctly. Assuming it is, then I think the IMPORTANCE of targeting sequence is a surprise to many of us. Off___Def_____Hit points G128__G112____hp46 G112__G98_____hp46 (2) G28B6_G24_____ hp2 G28___G24_____hp24 (4) G21___G17_____hp15 M53___B12_M0__G13______hp163 M49___
errr, fleetsim? 10% probability that the results ocured because the real Iconian probability of winning the battle was 99% 74% probability that the results ocured because the real Iconian probability of winning the battle was 90% etc. There is only a 1% probability that the Terrans realy were the superior fleet and were very unlucky. Comes from the binomial probability on where there are only two results (success p and failure q) p + q = 1. I googl
Well that explains why my 'Speed Kills' posting 5 weeks back got no air play. Lucky Wheel didn't see it or I'ld have been walking around with a 'Captain Obvious' stamp on my forhead.
The AI countered by tailoring its ships to my ships and parking them on planets without orbital defenses so that the optimal ship would always defend. I countered by diversifying my ship payloads and defenses. I'v
FYI - here are some binomial probabilities. Probability that Iconians True Superiority is 10% 99 to 1 74% 9 to 1 38% 4 to 1 15% 7 to 3 5 % 3 to 2 1 % fifty/fifty
Mumble, I will check and see. I accidentally overlaid the save file I was using, but I may have another save out their somewhere. I am assuming all you need are the total Atack point, hitpoints, and defense points for each ship. If so, I may be able redirive it from what I know.
SrGalen That observation isn't just for newer players, unless your lumping me into that category. I thought I had made a lot of observations, but that wasn't one of them! ES We have concluseively established that I do not have all the answers. I need to go and cry now.
No offense taken. My observations were defintely geek stuff. I do think, however, that the results are very contrary to what most folks would expect given the forums genral tenor on the matter. My motivation was actually the post on ship defenses that basically summed up the reason to use ship defenses is strictly because you don't want to micromanage swarms of tiny ship fleets. They justified their results based on extensive trials using flight sim. Since their observations
The Terrans have 3 Battleships with 7 BHGs, the rest are medium ships with 7 graviton or Quantum drivers. The all have as many ZPAs as weapons The Iconians are 4 huge hulls with 4 quantum torps except for the 48 which has 5 antimatter torps. Just want to point out, that nobody changed there stance after this post, so I think the ..
The Iconians win. Except for the one battle they lost, they had over 30 hp left. Twice, they came away with TWO ships. Quite frankly, I was suprised at the one loss. The terrans were very lucky and got two Iconians in the first Round. The other battles all follow the Same pattern. The terrans take out the 70 Hp Iconian and damage the second. The Terrans lose their top battleship and suffer great damage to the second in the first round. Both sides lose a ship in the
In the beginning there were the Dread Lords, and their ships were good, too Good. They had ships that higly outclassed anything I could build. The counter was slow small ships in fleets that had weaponry that made the Dread Lord defenses have reduced efficiency. Each round the dread lords took a ship, and I took a bite. I would get the last bite When I started playing against the AI players, they started with slow small ships. The counter was to build big hulled ships with
I figured I would wait, until the thread stopped getting new opinions. I will say that more than one poster has already outlined exactly how the battles go. If the guesses die down, I will post tonight.
Terrans 8 Iconians 8 + 1 prediction that there will be exactly one winner, and one loser. (not the most daring prediction, but it was a prediction so I felt I ought to count it. ) Depends I keep forgetting that not everybody enjoys a
Terrans 7 Iconians 6 one winner, one loser 1 I agree with OZ, that I would never voluntarily participate in this battle on either side.
Those 'Judgers' and their theories. They can really take the humor out of life. Something always has to be at someone elses expense. "it" being malicious intent unfortunately... I grew up gay, bookish
oops sorry Terrans 5 Iconians 5 one winner, one loser 1
Terrans 5 Iconians 5 I already conducted the battle 10 times. The winner won 9 times and lost once. I'll let the conversation run a little longer before I post the results
Terrans 2 Iconians 0.
Predictions: Terrans 1 Iconians 0. Thanks nullspace for getting the ball rolling!
It was meant as a thought experiment. A lot of folks have chimed in about fleet size, hull size, defense and the like. Time for them to put their reps on the line and take a stand!
Seriously, this cutesy phrase has to stop, please You've obviously never heard me speak that sentence... Mumble, Have we strayed too far from the OP? I thought the monkey was a real trip into space, but darned if the bard himself
Results later. I am just curious what folks think will happen.
oops, sorry, I'm uh, err... dyslexic? ...runs and hides...
Well, Shoot, everybodiy has already made the good points so all I can do is second them. Space borders are equivalent to sea borders. They are real, but not infallible. Also, borders really don't have much use beyond diplomatic consequenses, so we really need to indicate to the AI that border violations have an impact. Starbases should definitely be able to cross borders (think european Imperialism). so the only other impact borders would have is the prevention of the
