I agree. What's the point of having extra trade route research abilities or the extra trade route UP laws if there is a hard cap? If trade routes really are such a big issue for the developers, then take out the United Planets trade route boost law (which can theoretically boost it to an unlimited number of routes) but don't cap it otherwise... have it be simply base 1 plus any bonuses from political party or chosen before the start of the game plus any bonuses from researched tech.
Bug Underfoot
Speaking of unpredictable research... does the ability Creativity actually do anything? I haven't ever had it give me bonus techs or open up new tech paths or whatever it is supposed to do. The only time I have ever seen Creativity actually work is when it is directly applied by the anomaly that increases your database of information on the currently researched tech. Likewise, does Luck even work? I edited a political party to give +100% luck just to test, and yet I got the same num
I was able to patch just fine downloading the patch elsewhere. So I doubt mine is pirated. But I still can't register with it, which sucks, because I don't want to have to go to this trouble every time a patch becomes available.
Likewise. My SN worked to install the game but I can't seem to use it to register/get updates. Which is really sucky. Why do you have to be registered to get a PATCH?
Still won't let me register. I guess I need this mythical email.
I will try Stardock Central then if it doesn't cost anything. Thank you for the suggestion.
When I try to register at the Metaverse page I get: "Registration Failed: You have entered an invalid serial number." Which is why I'm thinking I have to follow this link from the email that I've read about in other forum posts. Except that doesn't help when I don't have an email at all. I don't know which site actually spawns the email... obviously it's not Strategy First's site unless its server is horribly slow since I've tried several different email addresses at this po
Registered at strategy first via the start menu link. Hour later, no email. So I redid it with a different email address. Long time passes, still no email to confirm or finish registration by actually entering my serial... I have seen people talking about registering via stardock.com or wincustomize.com but I can not find any way to do so. In the few instances I find something about galciv it just links back here to galciv.com ... so how do I register so I can get patches and the l
On a related note, you could accept advertising and programming from alien civs as a source of income to defray the cost of the networks, but this would give them a measure of Influence in all your systems... or you could make deals to expand your networks into an alien civ and gain influence there.
I think it would be cool to see a category of "galactic resources" - that is to say, "structures" that provide benefits to all planets in your civilization without necessarily being free of upkeep like a Trade Good or Galactic Wonder. I am thinking specifically of the News Network and Entertainment Network here off the top of my head, though I'm sure there are others that apply or could be developed. Sure, with such structures like a Multimedia Center or Harmony Crystals or the like, it makes
I will ditto Vincible. Something like that is what I was going to suggest when I started reading the thread, it would really help. If you have a planet surrounded by hostiles, it would be nice to be able to set that planet on military alert without screwing the social/research development in the REST of your empire.
Similarly, even with the most advanced diplomacy in the game I cannot seem to ever make a trade with other civilizations unless it's horribly lopsided against me. Even with civilizations who regard me warmly, I cannot trade technologies for each other (despite my "incredible diplomatic advantage") or otherwise gain any concessions whatsoever.
I haven't bought the full game yet, but playing the demo has raised a concern that would be a major problem if it's an issue in the published game. I have a game where I'm the dominant civilization in the galaxy, and I'm at war with the Arceans. They only have two planets and I have destroyed their ships and attacked both planets - whatever that means, I just zapped em with my starfighter once each but then couldn't attack them anymore. I have researched Advanced Diplomacy, and on t
