Bad wonders has come up several times, and while this might not be what the op meant, the first impression I got was of tactical issues. As in This wonder is generically good, it's just that it no longer has any use because everyone now has technology [whatever]. Like I said before, that might not have been the original message, but it is an interesting message: AI should be developed to play a dynamic game of what's going on right now, as opposed to a static game of this is always better than t

Might be able to get it working like so: click on the technology you want to research, and have all the prerequisite technologies queue up. For instance, If I start a game, go to the Research screen, and then click on Stinger-IV. It might even be real easy to implement.
The method I use to close my borders is military presence. I place an internal police force of slower ships inside my empire. Their job is to shoot down scouts, troop transports, and colonizers. My top-of-the-line fast fighting fleets are my border patrol/coast guard; their job is to be stationed so as to quickly intercept any fleet that might try conquest.Ideally, I'de like to also have some heavy protection fleets strategically stationed near likely points of entry, that could be mobilized to
I agree with Onikazi - the cost of new planetary technology can be very high. Try playing the "Battle of the Gods" scenario. It would be useful to have the "Show only latest tech" filter a removable checkbox, so that low-cost technologies could be purchased that won't break the bank due to maintenance fees.
I like the weapon vs hull size choices -- that's interesting. Normally, I only buy the smallest hull that my current weapon tech will fit in, preferring an extra engine, and then a second weapon. (Range enhancement is unimportant to most of my combat vessels, because they hang out near my borders.) Why do I feel this way? because most of my games last until about turn 100~200.
Um, the show is a great show, no question, but if there's one thing it doesn't do well, it's space battles. Oh, I don't know about that...
Not necessarily: Several times I have been attacked by unguarded troop transports en route to my planets. Having a light security force distributed across the empire forces the enemy to provide substantial escourt to an invasion force, or face expensive consequences.
Do you run out of money on cake walk, on your very first game? Would you like it if you could continue, and learn instead of starting over from scratch?
1360x768 glad it supports the wide screen
Those guys over there in Viet Nam won a war with the USA by digging a hole and climbing into it. And speaking of the USA, I'm fairly sure that England sent an army to crush their colony's stupid little rebellion, but here we are today, an independent and powerful nation.
"MultiPlayer" is a word, a flag to rally around, a sales bullet, a reviewer's checkbox. I would much rather have the UFP become playable, like it was in GC1. Where you could buy votes that changed your share of the house, and where the things they voted on affected changes in the game. Include an editor for a starship jewelry that loads/saves .X files. GC-II Gold, v1.5: Comes with starship editor. I'de buy that.
I guess it could be calculated, if I was bored enough... So maybe someone else could have a go at it? Well sit right down, pull up a bowl of pop-corn, and let Shirlock Holmes give it a try Let's start a game with the tax slider to 100% and look
The map is filled with class-0 planets with no build tiles on them. These planets are useless, because they cannot be used. They serve mostly to destroy the Stellar Cartography technology, and prevent research into scanner technology. They are meant to cause trouble and anguish, not as a good thing. So is this a good thing? Actually, I'm not sure...
From looking at one game of 226billion across 32 worlds: A good estimate of those planets is: Morale = -0.0008*Pop*Pop - 0.0169*Pop - 0.0169 Forecasting for larger planets, here is my guess: Population Morale 5 9% 10 23% 15 42% 20 64% 25 91% 30 121% 35 155% 40 194% 45 236% 50 283% Thos
Skynet: It's better than gross. Comes with +10% infantry bonus -- where do you want to go today?
On the food thing, here's my study of a game I played until I was sure to win (1-Oct-2227) 227billion population, spread over 32 planets in the empire. The size of world doesn't directly affect the negative morale impact, but there's a bonus for large worlds. The penalties here are just for population size. It's about -10% for the first 5billion, -25% to 11billion, and about -40% to 15billion.
I noted a similar problem when the Senate voted that one of my worlds should hold the Galactic Prison for several years. It was supposed to see a 50% increase in production, with an accompanying risk of rebellion. But even though it appeared on the UFP enacted bills screen, there was no mention of it in the planetary details. Examining the production times, as well as problems with other legislation (increasing the number of trade routes didn't seem to work, for instance) led me to be
My first real ship replacement! Early on, I had a scouting vessel, the astronomer-629: But as time went by, and the nearby planets had all been catalogued, it became more important to switch roles to a research vessel for scouting anomolies. Thus a job upgrade to the cartographer-947:
It might include Collector's edition jewelry, cause I downloaded the add-on. Colors...well, hey I got tired of navy gray I'll probably settle down in a few games to a more respectable color set. Just gettin' outlandish
Speed-7, range-2.2 on turn 1, if you have Ion engines as a racial technolony pick. For rapid deployment of cargo hulls to unclaimed resources, where it will be converted to a constructor. Also quite handy for getting soon-to-be freighters across the map. Can also be used well in fleets, dropping off outpost starbases along the way to further extend range. The constructor upgrade is an expensive gambit,
43 and just beginning to enjoy it.
dern double post. PS: yes, i'm using max v.8 on XP
Stupid-monkey type question: How do you get this Panda export thing to work? I've tried extracting Panda exporter v4.8.63.0 to the /plugins directory, but when I start 3ds max, it doesn't seem to show up in plugin manager or file export file types.
The group voted for increasing the number of trade routes by four. I had already maxed out my trade routes, and had seen the "it's illegal to do more trading" dialogue box. Since I still had those freighters hanging out at an alien world, I tried to land (for several turns), but again received the no-way message. Are the UP resolutions not hooked up yet?
Thanks for the good idea
