[quote]hehe, seeing "Naismith out" there suddenly gave me an urge to go reread all those Bujold books.[/quote] Yeah, they were such exciting books and her use of vocabulary is excellent. I too plan to reread them someday. I'm currently reading a Star Wars series, but some day when I run out of new books to read... :D

Pontius, I have considered your offer, and I do enjoy the occassional drink (j/k, I know you're not drunkards), and the offer is very very tempting given your current standings, but for the moment I have decided to rejoin the Fellowship because I feel most comfortable here and fit in well with my RPG background and such. Sorry if I seem to be creating melodrama about my role here. ;) Thanks for your kind words H50 and Ray. :D --Naismith out. [Message Edited] [Mess

"Great story. Really appreciate your efforts to write stories in our thread. Keep it up!" Hey Ray I left the empire because I felt I wasn't making many friends besides yourself and wasn't up to par skill-wise. I am really appreciative of the help you have given me, and if you think I should rejoin let me know. :)

Here's my RPG subplot submission. If you're not into fantasy RPG stories, you can skip it. Hope all you fantasy/Middle-Earth lovers like it. :D . . . Miles entered the tavern, ordered and ale from the barkeep. The barkeep, Toxiar, looked dubiously at Miles, and handed over the drink. “Heard you’re looking for a good rewardin’ cause, Zyrixion,” Toxiar stated pointedly. Zyrixion was the name Miles was known by in these parts of the kingdom. “Yea,” replied Zyrixion,

The drengin's have few systems, and the evil Arceans have a sizable empire. The nuetral Yor are stuck in a corner. My empire is large and I am chaotic good this game. If the torians were good as well, good would have more power in the galaxy since the torians are as big as I am in terms of systems. ;) So I thought maybe the game was balancing good and evil. :notsure: Probably just random though. :) Forgot to mention that the saintly altarians are few in systems as

Does anyone know if the game switches the alignments of the races? I set the Torians to chaotic good and on the foreign relations stats screen they show as nuetral. I set the drengins to chaotic evil and they show correctly as just evil. Every other alignment is correct as well. Is the game balancing power in the universe based on the alignment I chose? Thanks in advance for your explanations. :D

I once made a similar mistake to the one Ares1001 has made about Nazism, and the comments I made were out of pure ignorance and frustration. Ares1001, I empathize with your condition and hope you listen carefully to what the others have stated. You might learn how to express your frustrations in a better way by remaining calm and thinking carefully before complaining. Just my 2 BC. :) [Message Edited]

Sent out on a lone mission for the Fellowship, Miles Naismith falls under the influence of an evil sorcerer. Fighting the evil influence invading Miles soul, Miles flees and retreats to a lone mountain top where he desperately tries to regain his equilibrium through meditation and self-control, relying on his monk skills. After a period of mental regeneration, he takes a vow of silence and returns to his monastery. The monastery gives him the mission of finding a good cause to contribute

Wo bu ming bai That's all the chinese I know. On another note, the drengin have turned me into the world's biggest "cheese eating surrender monkey" (:( Guess I'll lower the difficulty next time and get even. >:( It's fun even if I don't win all the time, anyway. :D

Thanks Ray, Great strategy advice. I have only 13 or so planets (I selected occassional), and am seriously outnumbered by the enemy in terms of planets, but I will give the defense strategy a go. :D Maybe in future games I will make a diplomacy pick to begin with as was suggested. I know if I can just get the drengin to ally we can crush the torians. Hopefully the drengin will come to ses it that way, with a little encouragement on my part. ;) If al

I knew of the tech trading cheese tactic, but I never thought cheese tactics would be essentital to a successful game. Thanks, I will try trading tech for money to the minors, although I am behind technologically. :D Thanks also for the advice on trading and diplomacy. :) [Message Edited]

okay here's how things stand: Drengin's miliitary and econ are strongest. Diplomacy screen shows no ships though, maybe because they are so far away. I know they can build frigates because they gifted me some. Torians are average in both. I have military rating of 90 maintenance of 33% 15 corvettes 5 defenders 19 battle axes 1 frigate 5 highest PQ planets are producing frigates now. Rest are producing corvettes. Curre

I am still a relative newbie at this game, and I am having difficulty on normal. I can play beginner level just fine, but when I move to normal everyone seems to go to war with me. Right now, I am getting the crap kicked out of me by the drengin and the torians. I am playing normal evil game in a huge, occassional galaxy. I picked industrialist, 5% PQ, +30 hp, +20 defense, and +15 weapons. I started out okay, putting everything into expansion, to get the most powerful em

I think I'll leave future songs to the more experienced bard I have heard about, Michael. We haven't formally met, but Michael would you like to post some better verses? I would be interested in hearing them if you would be kind enough to post something. Not for competition, but just to see what sort of bard you are. :) By the way, bards do much more than just sing songs, so if you're not up to it I understand. Bards are supposed to be a jack-of all-trades, in any event. That's why

With the battle of the undead imminent, Miles the battle-song singing bard/monk humbly broke into a song to rally the troops: [quote] Cry for Death Cry for Death Try for the final test Soon it will be upon us And cry we will For the enticing bloodlust of each and every kill They come for us all In our sacred hall Fleet of the Death Knight Keen for a bloody fight Slag them all, so goes the cry From the emperor

Well, as a teenager I loved the Spellsinger series by Alan Dean Foster, but it seems it's out of print now. Also the Thieves World series which I only partly read. The Sword of Shanara, and Elfstones of Shanara were great reads as well. My favorite fantasy book though has to be The Hobbit.

Another great story installment from Ray, although I'm not sure I follow it completely. I must have missed something somewhere. Anyway, It's good to be included in the story. My story telling skills need honing, so I will refrain from posting more RPG storyline for the moment. I'll be content to be included as Ray sees fit. ;) BTW, what is the KitWarrior thing about anyway? Did I miss something else? [Message Edited]

Welcome to the Fellowship arobertson! :) I am a new member myself, and so far I have found the Fellowship to be a fine group of gamers. You seem to have a good number of games under your belt, so you are a great addition to the Fellowship. Oh, and thanks for putting us on top! :CONGRAT:

Unbeknownst to the Fellowship, the undead minions had recruited a werebear to sow discontent amongst their enemies by casting doubt upon the true identity of its newest member, Miles. Could the rumour be true? Could Miles actually be a doppleganger posing as some other real Miles? Amongst suspicion and mistrust, Miles tried desperately to clear his good name, but some remained unconvinced. Miles decided the best way to remove doubt would be to reveal that he had a dragon tattoo on hi

I may shame myself by posting this but here's a battle song I wrote a while ago: SPACE TIGER Somewhere in the darkness of space A Space Tiger, predatory grin on his face Elite force on the prowl Spots an unsuspecting enemy Engines roar a ferocious growl And yet approaching so stealthily Hidden behind Pantheus’ moon Ready to pounce, cat eyes focusing Lord of the jungle void Wearing his colors with pride
