Hats off yet again to Ray, well done :CONGRAT:
Mad Prophet
Ok, so if I understand this correctly; 1) at some point your earlier games start dropping off your score. And 2) longer games score better than shorter games, presumably due to having built a better civilization. Does the number of inhabited planets have anything to do with it besides the obvious speed difference? (i.e. sparse vs. abundant)
Gengsta, Thanks for the reply, and if true, I am in for a serious jump. A casual glance at my submissions will show that I have been pushing up the difficulty rapidly as I refine my style and learn how the game works. I finished that crippling with something like 50k in my reserves even after buying anything that took my fancy, although admittedly I started on an extraordinary map. One thing I still would like to know however is how the heck people are getting these 12-14k sco
Just posted my first crippling and I have to say, regardless of the reasoning behind it, it's rather disheartening to only get 13.8% of the actual points added to my total. In point of fact, I believe that the size of the map is seriously overweighted since people have scores of 12k+ on gigantic maps at the "why even bother to play it" level of cakewalk. In any case, great stories going on all over the forum, cudos to all involved, and it certainly has been fun to watch the bat
Standard military usage, for example: DD = Destroyer CA = Cruiser BC = Battlecruiser CV = Carrier (aircraft, spacecraft etc..) There are others, in fact, dozens of others, but no point in getting too crazy with a list here.
Yes, and yes, ad infinitum. I've actually sat in one sector (admittedly a great one) on a maso/gigantic map and held off dreadnoughts with starfighters :SURPRISED: just to test that question.
You don't have to wait 20 secs between clicks heh. I have always had to double click the submissions, but it's basically instant.
Yes, succinctly put.
Yikes LOL :CONGRAT: I just submitted my 'almost' 10k game and check the baord and where do I find us... 1st place?!!? Looks like we gained some serious recruits and the pirates must have had a defection, although it doesn't look to me like it was to us, I could be wrong however. In two days thw world changes so drastically... must be due to the way fate warps around me ;p
*chuckles* Look rather like a goblin you do* ...
*Schnuglezh* Oop... Schtill in the worng plasche.... Oh welp..... Schtill numbuh thwree nowz, creepingsh upsh onz yooz. Bleh ;p
Umm .. . Holy Cow. Welcome Richard, I hope you realize you just made the Fellowship jump 2 places ... Yikes. To be honest I was looking at those two spots as a definite possibility soon, but geez. In any case, please feel free to add yourself to our story, or babble with more coherency than I manage to ;p
That's kinda a hallmark of the Fellowship and even something we like to spread. Some members are quieter than others, but all seem to like to help others. As a side note: this doesn't mean that other groups don't have contributors, quite the contrary. Just that we of the ring make a point of helping out as best we can, regardless of ranking or skill level. :)
*Tenatively nods and agrees* I am up far past my bedtime so I'll have to relook and see if this all makes sense to me later.
The odd little man attempted to glance up from where They were currently sprawled. It took an intense amount of effort for some reason They couldn't understand ... apparently the booze here in this establishment was a bit above par. The voices were yammering away in strange directions almost as if they were drunk, but that couldn't be possible, could it? There were at least nine of us in here and it took entirely too much to get Us all drunk, but there seemed to be a problem with the floor.
This is kinda funny and kinda frustrating. On my last win (the 7700ish one), I zapped a few planets I had taken because the snotbrained aliens had scorched them and the morale was dragging me down, and I had also dumped a couple dozen bases because i no longer needed them. From what I have read here and other places today, I prolly capped my score lol. Oh well, live and learn :p
you spend 4 of your 10 points for a 2 percent PQ bonus? Offhand, I'd have to say you should seriously consider reallocating your points. 4 points can get you a hell of alot more than you are currently using them for.
Why would anyone ever not manipulate their bars on a regular basis?
Umm, That's slick :HOT:
Crushbone, We just said the same thing heh. All I am saying is that it would be tedious to have to place even more cultural bases near your enemy when you are clearly ahead and they also clearly can't stop you. All that adds up to is time wasted, not a more intense session.
[messed up the quote, question from 244] Ok, from a n00b point of view (which I have had), I have spent all too much time getting another empire to trade. The seriously frustrating thing is that thw whole time I was fuming because there are about 4-6 stock phrases that the AI uses to say "hell no you dork". All that time I was thinking there has got to be a way for the stupid game to tell me when I was getting close... but it's already there :notsure: . When you offer a trade
Thanks for the insight guys, you're a big help. I looked back at Staffa's list and see that it is indeed just one game, so I am still puzzled there. I think I'll write a post about metaverse scoring as it appears to me the designers forgot the K.I.S.S. rule when designing it. To my mind, the points you score from a game should all go to your score, and the only thing that should lower your overall score is time deterioration. No need for formulas etc, just a base score. On a separate no
After some trial and error, the best setup I have had was a bit of luck in how the races got placed in the game setup. Not that you can't find something similar in most games, just that this one was as near perfect as I can think of. It looked like this : ============== |........|........|........| |.......T|........|A.......| |........|........|........| ============== T = Terrans (my best system) A = Alexians homeworld It was obviously a very shor
Have to agree completely with Qui-Gon. Strategy/Tactics > tedium every time.
