Don't look now but it appears that we are quickly creeping up on 4th place :HOT: . One thing I'd like to understand better though. When I submit a game, I am lucky to get 30% of the score added to my total, often as little as 15%. On the other hand, that last game Staffa submitted got him over 50% ... or was that 2 games? In any case he jumped about 10k.

As an addendum to the tactic, try this. Instead of using all those constructors to do yet more cultural improvements to those bases, add on some attack bonuses instead. Then you send over a couple ships to wipe their orbital fleet, which will make them flip alot faster.

Dredging up older posts as well as new, I personally find it discouraging that if you play straightforward and submit all your games, you really torpedo your score. If I had had any idea that this would be the case, I of course wouldn't have done it :notsure: . I'd like to see them add an 'unsubmit' button to the metaverse, but would have to think out the full consequences. Congrats to Ray for his double victory :CONGRAT:

Crushbone- What do you get from espionage that you find the use of credits is worth it and why? Not saying it has no use, I am just curious since the info esp gives is useless when I look at me so I have no idea why I would buy it about other races.

Influence is critical, and I mean critical. Recently on this board(though not this thread), someone asked about how to help stop being attacked constantly by the AI. One of the big guys responded with a detailed post on how to avoid it mostly, but said there was something else he had not yet identified that kept him from being attacked. Being the curious sort, I decided to investigate it, and found that it was influence. I am currently working my way up the difficulty levels, b

On the subject of empires, Not that this is necessarily a medal issue, I'd like to see an 'average player score' with regards to the empire. Ideally this would be a separate ranking page, but some form of medal/ribbon/banner item may work also. And yes, you can call me a homer, but I belive FTR is more impressive with 21 folks at our rank than the Europeans are at 78 folks with theirs. [Message Edited]

You bought something outright, either a ship or a planetary enhancement. Your lease is basically the interest you are paying for getting the item in 1 turn, all you can do is wait it out. Leases are sometimes worthwhile, sometimes not, but thats a long conversation in and of itself.

Ahhh... I thought I had to be missing something obvious, I'll have to look more closely at the numbers in the game I am now playing and see how this works out. Many thanks :D **EDIT** However, that brings up a whole nother angle. If you are working the trade and tech trade angle, and have your taxes set to 10% or lower.... still seems like it would be better to stay imperial. Any replies on this? [Message Edited]

Replies: My time is sporadic here, sometimes alot, sometimes little, so it's hard to say when I'll be about. I just now caught up on the last 20 posts or so, and I'll give the story some thought, and input when the muse strikes.(btw, thanks for the compliments :) ) As for multiple people playing the same game, sounds good, but I am not yet up to your standards of play, still have alot to learn. Come to think of it, someone tell me why you think changing your politics is a help

"Trolls", shivered the young lass, "ugly, smelly, and wretched creatures.... We do so dislike them". "Yea", chimed in the little boy, "butcha forgot stupid, they're always stupid too". "All that may be true, but they can still cause great pain", intoned the old woman. "That's quite true", Agreed the young woman, "I wish they weren't so evil but there's nothing you can do to stop them". "BAH!" said the old man, "Trolls, moles, rabbitholes... you have nothing to fear from them".<br

We think most of you have passed over one of the best ideas presented in this thread. You keep talking about medals for "former" this or that, when one person said (though not too clearly) it would be good to have a medal for the highest rank you had achieved. If you think about it, having the first medal on your row have a number on it showing that would cover all those "formers" quite nicely.

"Oh my, smart as well as cute", sighed the teenage lass. "No no, none of that", said the old man, "I won't kiss him for you so you can just put that thought out of Our head right now". The young woman laughs merrily and the little boy makes a face and spits several times. "If all of you are quite through playing around", continued the old woman, "We would like to thank Our hosts for accepting us". "Yes indeed", agreed the jolly middle aged man while he picked up the freshly fille

The old man wakes with a start and his head swivels back and forth with a jerky motion as he takes in the scene before him. He appears to be somewhat confused for a moment or two, then realization slowly dawns on his face. These good folk are discussing him, as he had bade them do, as he was here to help them, or get help, he couldn't remember which just at this moment. In any case, it appeared that the young lad who had just drifted down the staircase facing him appeared to be addressing him di

As Ray sits quietly by the fire in the Prancing Pony enjoying a mead after a long day, he overhears good master Butterburr murmuring to a table of the locals, "My man Nob just come in and tells me there's a bit of a disturbance down by the south gate". The worthies exclaim, and begin a lively discussion over what the nature of this disturbance might be, but the wanderer is a more curious sort, and decides to investigate himself. After placing a coin on the table, he quietly slips out the door and
