Thanks for the response, it's appreciated. I have to agree (and have always agreed) that the constantly going in and fixing the anomolous scores for folks is a time sink and just plain irritating. I also agree that EBZ has gotten alot too dramatic about the whole issue. I hope my posts have shown that my concern has never been to have the devs be servants to us, it was just concern over the underlying issue of scoring in general. I also hope that I haven't seriously of
Mad Prophet
A complete lack of response to either of these threads on the part of the devs today when they were so active yesterday is rather telling.
Just for comparisons sakes, on v1.05 all my CTDs are directly related to/caused by the annual report. Is it the same for you?
Take a close look in the mirror and ask yourself who is actually whining, it might be instructive. Enjoy what you do, but do yourself and the rest of us the favor of not trying to instruct us in how to enjoy ourselves in what we do.
Which version were you playing Ric? I can't specifically answer your question, but I can tell you that I have finished a tiny/beginner in v1.05 with a bit over 2.6 mill in the bank with no problems.

Frogboy and Cari- After having spent the night in considered thought over these issues, and having reread much of what has been posted, I believe I have more to contribute to this discussion. Much of what was said yesterday by people here was said in the heat of the moment as it were, but I hope that today we can discuss this more calmly and without any histrionics. Point the first: More than one person yesterday was offended by Frogboys statement of "I am the CEO
Allow me to suggest that a spread of 0.9 to 1.05 is too limited as compared with the actual difficulty in play involved. Perhaps 0.6 to 1.4? or even higher...
Frogboy- A cut/paste of my reply to this issue I posted on another thread, moved here since you appear to be paying attention to this one. Personal opinion to follow, take it as you will: Getting upset with a developed tactic and calling it cheese is just a method of denial and blame shifting. Instead, Brad and Co. should be looking at the underlying problem and quietly kicking themselves for causing it. I'm not talking about a bug in the code, that
Personal opinion to follow, take it as you will: Getting upset with a developed tactic and calling it cheese is just a method of denial and blame shifting. Instead, Brad and Co. should be looking at the underlying problem and quietly kicking themselves for causing it. I'm not talking about a bug in the code, that happens in all software, I'm talking about the Metaverse scoring system. I'll be the first to tell you that there is *NO* way I should be pulling 13k fro
Have to agree, Matthew Downie has given the best thus far...
An interesting coincidence ... My Metaverse score just went over 50k at the same time I first broke into the top 50 :D Kinda proud of that since I spend so much time on other pursuits (although that experimental game was a flop ;p )
I've just played a pure evil game with pure evil AI before I went neutral and you see that my score is in fact v slightly higher than games where I played pure good with pure evil AI.
Ray, I may be misunderstandin
Build an on/off switch. If you're really having a problem with flips, take 3 turns to build some constructors, send em to the far corner with a planet or so of enemies, and give them a culture base. This will keep them from flipping till you choose to buy it back, thus winning exactly when you choose.
Or in any case that's my opinion... In other threads it has been intimated that a large chunk of credits in your bank when you submit a game is a cause of anomalous scores. In one thread, CariElf said that this was the likely cause of anomolous scores when using EBZ's guide. Being the curious sort, I decided to test that thought. Just submitted my last game using the GCCG. At the time I won, I had a bit over 2.6 million in cash... :SURPRISED: I do deviate from the gu
Sly little merchant Coerces them for credits Bankruptcy awaits
Um wow Cari... I ended my last (just a few mins ago) with an ugly amount of cash (something like 200k) and got a 13k score. I would say that I am just lucky, but OTOH I am now getting severe CTD problems which I never had before. If you are monitoring this thread, I will tell you positively that the CTD is *directly* connected to the yearly report. This may have been said before, but I am unaware of it, feel free to ask me any details.
Congrats Master Jedi, You got a response from the force itself...
Holy cow, I'm a Commodore?!? Just dinking around with EBZ's crank guide last night and added about 12k to my score, and now my lil yellow bars shuffled around. Almost didn't notice, and honestly not sure I take credit for it, I wasn't even playing seriously.(well, maybe I was kinda ;p ) Anyhow, glad to have added about 20k to the cause in the last few days, and may make the top 50 soon :D Theoden, great writing, my creative juices may find an outlet in that lead...
w00t !! :CONGRAT: You guys are great LOL
There's a cheat mode? Why bother? :notsure:
I will never ever understand the way this game scores, I have admitted total hopelessness on the matter. :notsure: Just last month I was boggling over submitting 6-8k games and getting less than 1k added to my metaverse score, yet just a few minutes ago I submitted a 13k score and got about 8k added :SURPRISED: *shrug* Whatever...
Wow, Just posted a score of 13k using this LOL Of course, since I don't have v1.09 yet, playing good vs all evils is prolly making a bit of a difference. The only thing I have trouble with is keeping the majors from flipping too soon. I even had to stop and build the yor a culturebase at the end of this last one.
Yep, I always type in the credit amounts to wring every last credit I can from them, but thanks for pointing it out, some folks may not know that. Also good on you for pointing out another important fact; after the first couple tech trades, never seel the suckers any tech that adds to their diplomacy. Generally at that point I sell them war techs and happy techs (to keep em in game a bit longer). Luck to all...
Greets friends, Been away for a while, lots to do IRL and my MMORPG addiction keeps me busy also, but it's nice to see friendly faces again. Submitted a couple games and played around a bit here in the last couple days. It's good to see the Fellowship doing so well. This thread has advanced some 900ish posts since I last read it........geesh.(don't think I can find the time to read all of em lol) Keep up all the good fun, and know that the Prophet lurks at the edges of society
Thanks for this interesting guide EBZ, I had some fun last night testing it out. While the speed at which you play is considerably different than mine, we have alot of the same goals/style. I'll share with you all here a few refinements of my own that may help you out a bit. 1) When you land that first colony ship, set that planet to produce a scout. This little bugger only costs 1 credit per turn in maintenance, and is well worth it. He allows you to streak around the map finding all t
