SA , I will reply, as for history I judge all history the same way, I am always prepared to learn, that what makes history so interesting, if find it the same as most things some facts are proved to be correct some not correct. I hope this is answering what you were saying, as for the Gospels. I would apply this to all I have learnt during time relative to the christian church, I am not trying to shitcan peoples beliefs, if I have offended I

The truth is almost none of the bibles where written by the people whose names they bare, for instance the four gospels in the bibe where not allwritten at the same time three of which were written after the death of all the apostles, KFC and SA you seem to little or no understanding of the history behind christanity, nor do you seem interested in learning. The bible is not the exhustive and only teaching of the Christian church, nor is it the only doc
Why is it when someone has a rational argument you people juast shit can the man, Most Countries that are experiencing strong and stable economic growth have taken the very measures a those suggested by COL Gene, and are now in far better economic shape for it, this included cutting spending and increasing taxs, when things imrove the brakes can come off, it seems to me that you guys would be quite happy to have the US economy mirror that of your Sour
I don't disagree with you, COL, far from it, and good on you for a very well thought out argument. What I cannot understand is what would drive This administration to go to war, when all the evidence says there is no intelligence to support the war why did it happen, it is a real worry, especially now the same administration is strategising over what can be done about Iran, not to mention the fact that the US still seems to be drifting dangero
Chakgogka, going back up the page, I do enjoy the well thought out peices you write, and no they are not to long, I must admit all this is quite topical at this point with the plethora of docos re: the whole abrahamic traditions which all three faiths share, just a shame many within these faiths are hell bent on proving their right to be the chosen ones, instead of recoginising the fact that all thre have shared heritages, and are intrincically intertw
I should add that I have just finished watching the Judas Gospel doco, and it is thought provoking, and rather interesting from a historical view point. Seems as though Judas was not that bad after all. Of course not all christian churches believed this to be the case anyway, much like the Mary Magdalan stories.
Coming from the orthodox side, I would say that there is more than meets the eye than just the bible, why, mainly because I believe that there is far more learning than what is t be found in the bible alone, after all the bible is the grouping of many works, and the new testament is the teaching of many but still only include four of possibly thirty Gospels, Many coming from the Gnostics. who where after all Christians, as for arguing which is correct
If we must be completely correct in our terms, Jesus in the the term mentioned above was a Teacher, however at this time in the history of the Jewish Church he was not what would be considered to be a modern day Rabbi, as this term is now the term used for the Jewish equalivant of a priest, in Jesus's time they were referred to as High Priests, not that this really matters. As for the statement there was no church, what was the Jewish Church,
If the big G is the reason for HIV and for that matter Hurrican Katrina, how come Cyclone Larry hit a largely Italian Catholic Community in Northern Australia, he was just getting back at them for what happened to his son while Israel was under occupation of the Romans , Maybe?
that rabbi from nazareth, who was never a rabbi, always told his followers to respect the laws of the stae, marriage at this point in time was not a church tradition, it purely the state that made this a rule it was much later that the church got involved, at this particular point in time the church bestowed a blessing on the couple, the state married them, just for the record I don't recall the Alleged Rabbi ever refering to divorce. Another point
For some time I, and many others have been subject to the rantings of the very lonny extreme of the christian right. I find that most of these are people who have very little care for the message of Jesus Christ, the man we christians take our name from. Instead they try to justify their rather absurd ideas with quotes from the bible. Person
I though I might troll trough some of your other threads, you really need to get a life mate, Just because someone other than JC said, does not effectively means this was the interpretation of what the meassage is, get a life, you give being a christian a bad name. As for all the fire and brimstone stuff, this needs to be read in the context of when this was written you moron, the language of today is not that of biblical times, nor will the interpreta
Sick, Sick Sick. Where I live in Australia, we had a very similar incident to this some time back now, sadly the person was brought to trial, but due to "Technicalities" he was aquited, this grub still lives here in our community, and as if this is not bad enough, he shops where the mother of this child is employed as a checkout attendent, and as a rule makes sure every time he makes a visit to the said shopping centre he uses her checkout. The re
Just on the christian theme, and yes I count myself as one, fisrtly to be a christin is to be christ like and follow his teaching, you sir have missed this point by a long way, as for born again, mabye you should try a third time, because you really missed the whole idea of what being a christian really is, too many of these people hide behind the so called "scriptures and the literal meaning of the written word, without trying to learn fromthe life an
I'M sorry, I did not realise we (that being the coalition of the willing) were at war with Iraq, I must haved missed something. I was sure we were at war with terrorism.
Will this stop the war in Iraq, No, unless of course by stopping the war we mean pulling out. I would be very surprised if a democratic adminiatration would do this. To stop the war we need to stop the source of the ongoing conflict, this being Osama and his followers and other self interested parties, who see more value in a civil war , eg: Iran, etc.
Nor should it Dr Guy, I just find it interesting to be able to read a lot more abot what we believe, if anything I find my faith is stronger now than ever before, probaly less reliant on the religiousity and more the spritual. As for the ice thing, when you look it , it is very funny.
So Fucking what, will this make the world safer, will it stop terrorism, will it end the Iraq war, no. These are important issues, however they are at best domestic issues for the US to deal with, yet this is international news, the reality is this is just a distraction from real problems, and while the press get all excited over every little snippet of political skulldugery the war rages on. When the media wake up then maybe something will be done
Whether the Iraq conflich was right or wrong is pretty much hypothetical, it has happened, was it right , in so far as getting rid of Saddam, and his cronies, of course, was it a good idea, probably not , why? mainly because the US, Uk and Australia will be stuck there for some time, during which time the US is going to take a lot of heat for being there. Do the people of Iraq think it was a good thing to get rid of Saddam and Sons, in the main yes, do
I wasn't aware of this Chakgogka, but wonders never cease to amaze me. It is also interesting that many of the Catholic Saint did much of their theological training in the Coptic Universities of the time, as these were and still are some of the greatest seats of Christian and Abrahamic Learning. I am finding one of the great things about the openess of the net and other recent improvements in global communication, is that all people can now ac
Being a male I do remember a time when I was young and single, and the thought of going for a gwark at naked women was rather titalating and is suppose a bit naughty, however as I now have a beautiful wife of 17 years, who I might add does not have an issue with the concept, even though she finds these venues stupid. I find the whole thing a bit of a wate of time not to mention, watching drunk men learing at women dancing on their laps a bit of an insu
Sorry InBloom, I mised the point again, I really do not spend a lot of time on the Idol forums, mbe becaus I really have lost interest in the whole show, however if others still like it and njoy this type of music, be it fairly narrow in its range of styles , then good on them, you everyone.
I suppose the irony of all the above is he is one of those people who relish shoving his religious views down the throats of othrs, and yes these were some of the people I was defending in my first comment, just goes to show, tke a deep breath before one go for the jugular. I am really going now really, really.......................
Actually many of the recent docos from Nat Geo have been very interesting in relation to the "missing" gospels, many of which were excluded by the by early church councils, as you said Chakgogka, Many of which have still been retained by the teachings of the Coptics, not to mention turning up in many of the teachings of Islam. I find it interesting to be able to now have the ability to read sometimes contradictory gospels, which we are now able to stud
In short what would Jesus say if he were on this forum, discussing this issue. Church and State should be seperate, sure, however, people in need are people in need, who is to say why these people are crossing the border with out the proper channels being observed, but my guess is they are looking for a better life, they may break the laws of the US, but they are far from criminals. To treat these people as if they are is showing just how low
