I don't use bryce, but in programs I use it could be done by making a sphere, and pulling the vertex points using soft selections (polygons) or pulling control points (nurbs). Might just have to let skinner give you more details

The reason most people HERE use higher than 800x600 is because most people here are graphics inclined, skinners, stuff like that. Most users do have 800x600, but most of those people use their computer 3 times a week to check email and have dust on their keyboards.

Some of that has a point or two, most of it does not. In reality this isn't talking about apple docks, this is talking about docks in general. I wondered the same thing myself, just because some of the christmas theme's were high quality isn't much reason to NOT feature new high quality works. But then again, servers are still a prob and they have more to worry about than whether it's christmas or not right now.
There is no basics to making a wallpaper, there are rules, you need certain sizes, needs to work as a wallpaper i.e. not be cluttered or so busy that you can't see your icons, but there isn't a magic button push that make wallpapers.
