I checked the folder c:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock and Windowblinds is listed as a folder there but the program doesn't launch properly from there either. One file, wb8config.exe, runs something but the window it opens is blank except for the line "Download more skins from WinCustomize" which is a link to that site. I've run the install a few times, rebooted a few times with no change to the result. I run as a user, not admin, but can act as an admin if Windows 8

Yeah, I think you're right about Windows IE support first. But I don't like having that junk antivirus program I must click off first. And the little green tree? It's there but looking for a url, not my screen shots/image files on my computer. I suppose I could run a web browser but that's ridiculous too. So, what's the deal with the dl link here, that should avoid C|Net entirely? AHHH! I see it works now. THANK YOU! How

The real problem is that everyone sometimes misses the checkbox. It can and does happen. Rip off companies, such as C|Net count on this then blame you for not unchecking the box. They aren't stupid but are willing to believe you are. So, just avoid them and don't give them your clicks so they go out of business.

My advice is this: concentrate on making all things work on Windows 7 - both 32 and 64 versions as much as possible. Don't bother with Vista and XP, two programs that are either non-supported or weren't bought in significant numbers to be supported by other programs. Windows 8 will either be complete hit or miss, much like Vista (miss). I suspect miss if it looks anything like what they have shown so far. Yes, you can make programs that will work on that but co

Yep, still here. Yes, I have read most of the posts. Entertaining. I figured I'd get some responses but not so many. Thanks to those who defended me from the pike of the "observer." It does look like something is happening to OD and I'm glad. I didn't like impulse and didn't like it even more when GameStop showed up. They aren't a favorite of mine anyway nor is any big corporation. So, I'm glad that's gone.&

Geesh! I'm an offending person (OP)? Maybe I misinterpreted that. I didn't think I was disrespectful of anyone. For the record, most of what my admittedly rambling post is referring to is my disappointment that the product has not seemed to me to move forward, in fact, with impulse, it went to a more ad oriented model which, when I pay money, I don't want, so that was going backwards. But that was last year. If it has gotten better (and yes, I

I was a longtime user of Object Desktop. For many, many years I subscribed and enjoyed getting new skins to apply to my computer. I still use Xav73's skins to this day. The lack of update to some programs was an issue at times but things generally got done. Then Impulse came out and we were told it would be wonderful and great and a new version of OD would come out and it would be world changing. Not so much. Impulse did keep things updated bu

I'd like to see Vad_M's Weatherlab 7 work in Win 7. I use 64 but it just doesn't work. I have no idea why and can't figure this out. It seems little has changed for the good in Stardock for many things and I probably won't renew my subscription hoping to get the widgets or objects working the way I want. It looks like Desktop X is done for with no real development. In reality, the only thing that works 100% of the time is that advertisements for games get pushed to

Yeah, like Obama would even want to do that. Catch a major clue, Shaggy! Someone's been drinking the neocon coolaid. Sorry, full liberally run government would only help things. And liberals want only large corporations to be taxed more, not small companies like Stardock. See, we're not foolish. Neocons on the other hand will be happy to let some Chinese company reproduce what you do for less than half the price and call it open capitalism at its best.&nb

I see there are suites and yes, the new "mycolors" music is a suite. Good choice, that. And I like it too! Thanks. My favorite themes are always the holiday themes, such as - [link="https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?skinid=478&libid=22"]My Halloween by Xav73[/link] and his other works. This is as complete a theme as I could wish for with XP. In Win7 you need to do more things like this complete with sounds. Also, I think you should fully integrate DesktopX into the proces

I have always like the .suites that I could get after paying, year after year for my object desktop subscription. Unfortunately, the development of suites has slowed to a crawl in my estimation. I thought this was the way forward to make Windows how I liked. Perhaps I'd feel differently if I'd bought Vista but I didn't and stuck with XP instead. Now, coming into Windows 7 (how'd they ever arrive at that number? It's like version 11 or somethin'.) I will buy this and hope that my old XP comp

If you do a search on this board, you will find one other person, maybe more, that has had this problem. This really limits functionality and is a royal pain. I would really like if someone could figure out how to fix this or a usable workaround.

I am running the arileen theme. In this there is the Taskbar and Systray bar. I've found that when I press the tab key, to hop around from one field to the next, such as in this create new post page for this forum, this particular bar steels the focus. I don't want this to happen. I've looked around in the theme editor and in the general objectbar options and cannot find any reference to the tab key. How can I disable this? Please respond to me at gmknobl at vt dot edu.<br/

This one is obvious. Either you need a resize ability for notes -or- and probably more easily accomplished - you need to have a wordwrap function automatically so that longer notes don't run off the end of the note into never-never land. It's a real pain having to hit enter or shift-enter when you get near the edge of the note and NOT having wordwrap is counter intuitive in this day and age of ubiquitous word processing.

We need more Halloween and next month Thanksgiving/Christmas skins - both full windowblinds et. al. skin suites and DesktopX themes. I see there is one premium suite but I feel sorta descriminated against as I reup my Object Desktop subscription just in time to see the one new one available is not for me to download. Thanks for appreciating me, a subscriber, in the above post, but don't you think that premium skin should be available to us

Hmmm... Considering that if you want to use the software you must agree to whatever is in there I view the EULA as a bunch of hooey anyway and therefore ignore it entirely. I think in a just society they would be outlawed and all software would have to follow the same legal agreement so that no "hidden behaviors" or no funny restrictions could be placed on the user. You buy the software, you have a right to do with it as you please short o
