Just wait until you play against allied computers that attack you at the same time. Ive been in engagments involving around 30 cap ships and more support ships than I bothered to count. Brought my comp to its knees. When the fleet indicator ring on a planet is completely full for both you and the enemy, and then another monster fleet jumps in....thats when EPIC comes to fruition. Another indicator that your in for it is when youve killed 10+ cap ships in one battle and they still havent deci

It seems that the vast majority of the time that I "discover something interesting" at a planet through exploration, nothing ever shows up in my artifacts tech tree. Ive played a number of games now and Ive only had one artifact show up in my tech tree even though Ive "found something" quite a few times. Is this a bug or a "feature"? thanks
Only thing I agree with is that ships can run past you, jump, and keep moving through your planets and never have to engage anything. And that Defensive buildings are weak and pointless. I also reject the idea that they are only ment to repel small invasions. Because they do not repel anything at all. Small or not!
While I would agree that there needs to be more of a penalty when you pass through an enemy planet or retreat(PJI's arent very effective), if the fleet just ke

Lol have you played a strategy game lately? Pretty much every rts has had some element of this. Even the great starcraft with its explosive, concussive, and splash damage types. The real world is even this way with aa emplacements > fighters > tanks > infantry etc etc. We cant even build a weapon that will do everything cause it wouldnt be cost effective. If you DONT have a hard counter system in an rts then it becomes a stale game of research better do everything ship and spam spa

Its all about hard counters. Thats a system of making certain units do extra or less damage to other certain unit types. Sins already has a very good hard counter system in place. Flack frigates are a medium to hard counter to long range frigates because they are much tougher, have a higher damage rating, do 100% damage to lrms, and lrms only do 75% damage to them. Fighters are a hard counter to LRM frigates as well since they do 200% damage to lrms and the lrms pretty much have no chance of

Thanks for the info bud. I will see if I can get that too work. Im not interested in having me and my buddies start in the same system. Thats too easy. I want the start locations to be truly random across all of the systems. I will see if that map tool will let me do this

No offense but it sounds like you arent setting up defenses, infrastructure, and fleet positioning right. After a couple of games on some reading on these forums, I have very little trouble defending against even 2 allied hards. I havent tried 3 yet. Some thoughts 1) You mentioned that they bomb your planet out very quickly. This shouldnt happen even if they have a large fleet (unless its an asteriod, they always go down quick). It sounds like you arent upgrading your "emergenc

I have a question that Im hoping the community here can answer for me. My two friends and I have attempted to create several large map team based games. I'm talking about 50+ planets with us on a team of 3 vs two other computer teams of 3. However, the start locations on large maps dont make any sense. What I mean is that there will be like 5-6 star systems and yet all 9 players will be crammed into 2 different star systems at the beginning. This means that
I have never had a problem with a Microsoft program
LOL! Almost shot coffee through my nose when I read this. LOL . You must not use microsoft products very much. Windows OS gave the term "restart" a whole new meaning.

For big pop planets, even if they have a some defense improvements, I still have never had trouble invading. I usually have around +8 or more to soldiering and the AI doesnt hit these techs as aggressively. So, I will send 4 CT's against a planet with 40 billion people and will lose at most around 6bil.

Oky doky folks, time for Update #2. I got to play for all of an hour last night, Yippee! I did get some things accomplished though. So far I have been able to Keep the Yor at "friendly" by giving them a meaningless tech now and then. Ive also kept them at war with 2 and sometimes 3 other civs at all times. Im not sure how those wars are going for either side though since i dont have any ships at the front sending back any images. I'll fix that soon though since i built Eyes of the

Good question Theoden! I guess I should preface all my comments by saying that I have yet to try a game with all AI's set to incredible. I have tried these picks on about 5-6 games ranging from tiny to medium map size. My current gigantic game should be another good test of these settings. Ok, now to your question. To be honest I have never put just a whole lot of effort into maintaining relations with the other AI's. I havent even used the IP bug (notice I said bug). Nor do I usu

Great job on the article Theoden! You have entirely too much time on your hands ;). Havent got to play any since this weekned and its doubtful I will get to put any time in until this next weekend :(. Ive got an agreement with my wife not to play much during the week cause she gets annoyed when I stay up late thumbing through tech trees and the like :). Oh well, such is life. Anywho,
Friend Gerakken, yes the Yor are generally a nuisance in most games, but they

Hmm, this is just my game!! :) I cant remember what stats Ive gotten my excaliburs up to. I know that ive had around 400 for an attack rating and 600 for hp on a medium map. I think that ship was level 3. Its hard to level an Excalibur since you dont get much experience unless you kill really big ships, like avatar and above. Ive had my battle hammers routinely get to level 5 and 6 since I keep the same ones around the whole game. I make sure that they stay alive. Ive buffed them
Oh please, lets have some level of maturity on this board. Was it really necessary to use profanity in your nickname, much less the message? Simply telling us you are 12 and asking your question would have been sufficient.
LOL! Thanks for the laugh mswaim! :) No they dont cheat. It justs seems like it until you master the economic sliders.

Dont hit the submit button more than once. It eventually work, just give it some time. The indication as to what its doing is poor. There should be a message that pops up saying that the score is being submitted and to "please wait". Also the successful submission message, ie "send status 1", is so cryptic that it confuses a lot of people. Being a programmer, it makes perfect sense to me. "1" is a logic convention for "true", in other words it worked. However, user friendly it is not.

Ive seen the AI build cultural resistance improvements that greatly negate your influence. However, the effect wont be shown in the influence menu. So you see like 7900 to 2000 while he sees 4000 to 2000 or something like that

Be offensive not defensive. I agree that starbases need more defense modules. Either that or their defense factor should be modified by your military resources.
