well, if you can't get large scale building, that is a bug that ocurred in 1.13, so you probably updated. Read through the bug report for instructions on how to "patch" the 1.13 patch.
Maxtipherous
the trade bonus only occurs when the little freighters pass through a the sector containing the trade bonus starbase.
If they get it perhaps I should give my nearest system to a flip-resistant minor.
I *never* thought of this! cool!
well, since 1.13 I can build starbases as close as I like in the same sector.
These are definitely not my under-shoes . . .
Nice job chipperoo. Just watch out for going to war with your trading partner, or having them lose to a race you are at war with *wink*. Man does that hurt.
I have only seen this behavior when I repeatedly load the same save game without playing a turn in between -- some kind of memory leak. Definitely not common. If you can duplicate it, post to the bug thread.
Hmmm, two bumps and no answer. I can only remember seeing N/A when I lost the planet all my traders originated from, but that was back on 1.05. You also might get it if you take over the planet you are trading to, but I'm not sure.
kludge-elegant=timetomarket But when a kludge is this good it is almost elegent, in a cobbled-up sort of way
no, not flipping Wombi -- Alpha strike. Knock-em all out in 1 turn. I feel I might have left my flipping days behind me for now. I really don't like the economic impact of scortched-earth planets, or the time it takes to delete the dozen unwanted social improvements on the others. I'm afraid the tedium got to me, which is the other reason I started this technique. You can certainly use this technique to park 4 stacks of 7 constructors in hot spots rather than terror stars, t
I mean, you can stack the starbases as close as you like with in a sector. At least in my game you can *grin*
I think he means setting the mini map to display influence.
I used to set up trade routes across the map and cluster trade starbases in my primary trading sector. Boy did that cause wild fluctuation in my income! Others have mentioned lining the trade route with starbases, so I tried it. I like to have a trading partner 3 or 4 sectors away in a straignt line. I will even build a PQ 14 and gift it to an AI if I can. Then with 2 or 3 trade starbases in every sector along the route and the moolah be rollin'.
Trevelyen -- This is a bug thread, for reporting and reading about program errors, crashes, etc. A better way to get help with problems would be search the other threads below or start a new one with specific questions. You might check out the strategy forum (button on the far left) for lots of tips. Cheers
Well, there are always military and speed boost benefits. If there are little traders going through that sector there are trade benefits. Also, every sector has a sort of base culture rating (little button top left of the main map, next to rally point button). Culture benefits multiply this base amount and spill over to adjacent sectors. with 3-5 starbases built up to Pary Palace you can culture flip opponents this way.
Two small addenda: I left off Organic Piecing as a prerequisite for Genetic Mapping, and I trade for speed and range technologies. Finished another including two false starts in 2:45. Cheers!
1) three reasons (besides my compulsive need for order) -- I don't like to waste constructor stacks on minors; minor homeworlds don't show up as yellow on stellar cartography and if they are taken over I still don't think you can see them; in an extended game majors often colonize non-yellow planets. I guess you can use the diplo screens to find everything, but that seems to me to take more actual time. 2)Yes exactly. In this style I avoid giving them the benefits of my tech u
Carielf -- didn't you ask for a screenshot of the display corruption in the little advisor field? http://www.pyroteknots.com/pix/corrupt1.jpg I think it has to do with a little freighter in a stack when another ship is selected on the stack. Also, did you know that a minor's original planet doesn't show up as yellow under Stellar Cartography. It hasn't since at least 1.05, but I don't think I have heard it mentioned.
never-never -- cool on the 4 hour bit -- check out my new thread on lightning alpha strikes Marquesa De Sade -- I am open to bribes
I think the next generation of games will do the micromanagement for you -- kinda like an underlying layer of reality that only invades into game play when the limits are reached. In the refueling example, if you overload a sector with ships so the fuel bases can't handle them, you will get a notification along with an option to divert resources to upgrade those bases. If you try and send a ship beyond a reasonable range, you might get options to lighten the ship (emergency jettison), extend f
This is, I think, a radical approach to an alpha strike. When Ginata played 5 gigantic Maso games in 3 days I was shocked, and began thinking of ways to play a lightning game. This is the result. Today I played a 60,000 point gigantic masochistic in a little over 2 hours, no CTL-U, coupla CTL-N's to start with some isolation. Earth was PQ 17, also 1 PQ 20 and 4 PQ 15 -- 6 total!!! I did restart to race a minor for two PQ 15's, and I got the 35 Base random event on my 20 PQ, which makes less
Sometimes they pop-up and warn you -- especially if you set them on guard in their sectors. Check the diplo screen at least every three turns and watch for your relations "silently" slipping.
I experimented with a trackmouse for my foot when I was writing heavily and hated taking my hands from the keyboard . . . Planet Density!! Use rare and there are fewer planets for everybody, fewer ships, shorter wars, etc. Actually, I never use fleets or way points. Virtually all deployment is either rt-click on minimap to send, or click on minimap to center and rt-click on main-map to send. I find the minimap scoll on the mouse scroll-wheel invaluable. I can play a giganti
Series of Typos -- looks like a programming error On at least 3 Wonders / Trade Goods (Diplo Trans, Micro Bots, Propoganda Machine) when you hit the little question mark the percent sign and space after the bonus number are missing. There was a typo in 1.2 where a random event about blood said "this discussing trend" s/b disgusting ~~~~~~~~~ RasterOps The game often does not recalculate until the end of the turn, so when first load a save game things are a
Hmm, starbase 3-space limit has been removed as well. I don't think I have seen this mentioned in the list of changes.
