I, on the other hand, try to send appreciation mail to developers. You got one from me last week, Brad. I guess they're not all that common though, since mine made the news. There are lots of satisfied customers though, just remember that. Most of them are just unaware how appreciated their being good customers is, and don't think to let you know how much they appreciate the site and your company's other services. I guess this is why most businessmen eventually hide behind "operatives"

The difference is, I suspect, that this skin uses something like DirectSkin rather than a trial version of windowblinds. The nVidia skin here on wincustomize was done specifically for nVidia in the first place, so it's not like they're ripping it off. I've seen it come on some nvidia video card driver disks, along with a trial version of WB. This way, they can do away with the trial version, and as far as the end user is concerned, the skin is a fully functional program, so far as applying the n

I hope this works for you - I like the model. The point here is that by giving people value, you will get money from people that wouldn't have bought anything to begin with. Personally, I can never justify $89 for a single game. Justfying $39 for Gal Civ was difficult. The upgrade to Drengin.net was tough also. I've probably only bought 5 or 6 games ever. Thing is, most of these games I probably wouldn't have bought. Not disciples II, not Celtic Kings, etc. But put together in a package

I'm a 105 wpm typer, and as the entry you linked to on my journal the other day can attest, I do get lengthy. If I'd known how many people were going to be seeing that little bit of what I wrote, I would have edited it for typos better, though! My journal is full of entries that just scroll on page after page (though not visible to most but friends). Unfortunately, when you spend that much time writing something, most people end up skimming and your co

Well personally I think that some developers are held back by identifying too much as "shareware" developers. "Back in the Day" as they would say, that is, the late 80s and very early 90s, shareware was a big thing. It was a novel concept that you could dial up to your local BBS and download software for free. Some great programs existed as shareware. PaintShop Pro got its start there, for example. What I remember the ASP offering at the time, was help in distribution and promotion. Being a memb

Well, if not the "real" startmenu, then at least something skinnable to match the dock. I've used the menu docklet before, and it always feels a bit "klunky" to me having a start menu come up in the middle of the screen that doesn't match the theme of the dock well.

Handles leak still seems to be present. Specifically, I can make it leak 40-50 handles at a time, reliably. All I have to do is open the "Dock entry properties" tab and close it again, without doing anything else. Every time I do that, it leaks 40-50 handles which don't get released back to the OS. I have it up to 2,319 handles so far but am not going to try for 15,000 again.

Another request ... sorry, lots... Would be nice to be able to drag and drop from the start menu object onto a tab in another dock... so I don't have to open the "real" start menu, or an explorer window, to get links of newly installed apps.

I'm not sure where there's a feature request section for OD+... but here goes: Howzabout, rather than just being able to save the whole theme, an option to save package just one tab or dock... so we can upload dock configurations to wincustomize that will just add a custom dock or tab (like a meters dock) without replacing the entire theme?

Okay, I bought it..... One person mentioned they don't like paying to test things... But IMHO StarDock acts in good faith - I can be sure there will be more stable versions in the pipe. This, along with the TotalGaming upgrade, is keeping me happy with this company. Thanks!

Wow... I found all the new games in SDCentral today and had to investigate... I thought I'd missed months of good gaming! Then I find out that at 4am I'm one of the first people to get in ;)... This is awesome!!!! Btw, I notice the price has gone up to $89, but when you click on "buy" (I did so out of curiousity) it still lists Drengin.Net for $69. Probably be cleared up soon ;)
