Congrats on the new position, unfortunately I haven't progressed all that far. Time spent doing other things. I managed to get in a few GalCiv games to look at my new ship in game... I like the way isometric view can look, saw the star trek project and am impressed what a little depth can do. Unforuntately I'm stuck with topview if its to 'fit' in with the current ships. I'm both happy and unhappy with the results as my biggest problem is making the ships 'fit' the rest of the

I've seen the AI build terror stars but never use them, they seems to treat them as starbases. I don't personally use terror stars I must be too lazy and find conquering a better idea. However I wouldn't mind if the AI had the potential and if the terror star took a couple of turns to implode a star. Adding to that, the targetted system was fully imformed (ie the player/AI knows they need to act). ~SDC~
I would say that empire size, alignment and research ability are all key factors, trade has some influence too as does the human player. However different races seem to do better then others in the same situations. Generally speaking and purely based on my own experiences, on various alignment combinations. Torians are a well rounded AI, they play a part in every game. They are hardy players and manage well in techs and alliances. Overall I have to say they dominate most games,
The "Tips & Strategy" page is pretty good, I also like the alliance victory summary area. Hopefully some new players find their way into your site, be a nice starter for them (quick start guide). Can't remember but there were some things that could be added, one springs to mind is to mention frigates in the ship combat area, they are really effective. I use them against/upto dreadnaughts level in packs, or for cleaning up ships that are very damaged. I usually noticed I can pr

[quote]The Fundies event that broke the camel's back and led me to post this rant took place when my entire civ was parked on 100% morale. Seven systems, fourteen planets, went to the Fundies. They all had 100% morale, because ALL of my planets had 100% morale. I had every single morale trade good in the game, plus morale bonus picks, plus three morale resources mined by starbases. I had over +300% morale boost. Why, then, did the Fundies get any of my worlds if they only hit low morale?[/quote]
Ahhh I see my brother dragon has arrived, welcome to the Imperium. [Message Edited]
Congrats Dracko and LavaLampMaster I has been a bit busy lately and always good to come back and see such activity in our recovering empire. Good luck LavaLampMaster with the gigantic map, eek my comp don't like gigantic takes a while between turns and then if you lose half way through the game :sniff!: arghhh! Do like the spacing out of the empires though :) [Message Edited]
I think StarDock have given this game great support. If you don't think so play the game unpatched. I remember the CTD bugs that would plague my system but now the games as stable as a rock for me, minor annoyances like the invisible ship bug aside, plus all the added goodies. I see droid is back, I don't agree with you droid ( I disagree that the fundamental design of the game needs to be changed) but congratuations on your most intelligent post yet. We could actually take you
This event has never seemed broken to me. I've never lost a planet to fundies and I've seen them enough, plus they have never ruled a game for me. I play as good, so that means the Fundies have turned up when my alignment was anywhere from neutral to saintly. My my morale isn't always high either, and yet I've never managed to lose a planet to the Fundies. Sirian I agree with Pontius, how bout restricting your arguements to facts and not colourful fictions. ~SDC~
No problem eradicus just wanted to see if my ship stank or not. I have to check out Mutil now to see if I can play with making the palettes the same as the games. Funny thing is I've been saying and wanting to do that for 2 days now. The other thing for your mod you might want to check out sites for model references to get the top views of cars you could probably use those with some editing for the ships... when I get some time I'll try and find the links to show what I m
Thought I'd show what my first ship looks like eradicus, http://www.hypermax.net.au/~agooch/art/galciv/640_BattleLords.jpg ~SDC~

Theres no hard feelings from me Blue, and no shame in joining up with us again. I know your feelings on the matter, but you'll forever be apart of us ANZACs. So only two of us so far Evil... guess we wait and see if others rejoin, maybe the ANZAC spirit hasn't died in the metaverse just yet! ~SDC~

Wow.... I return to real life for a few days and the empire crumbles arrgghhhhhhhh................ :VOMIT: ~SDC~
Thanks LDiCesare, saves me testing the idea... shame though! Hmmm I wonder though -1 how much does that hamper them on maso? Usually they get range techs before me If it stalled them a few turns it wouldn't impact too badly unless my thinking is totally off at the moment. I guess having the speed and range 0 and increasing the cost should do the trick to slow things down, might give it a try one dayIf I need a change. ~SDC~ [Message Edited]
Maso is more interesting to play, but I don't see any increase in difficulty. I love the feedback races give now! Finally they tell me things! ~SDC~
Sorry Vincible about the late reply, good that you remembered though :). I just found the whole assimation methods and feel of the governments added allot to the moo2 game. It would be interesting to see something similar in GalCiv where you choose a system of government that can advance down a separate path. Again while nice I can make do with the current system ;) . ~SDC~
Welcome Blade! The game is also very moddable, You can increase the cost of the colony ship and reduce its range to see the impact on play by editing the Data/CoreShips.SHIP file, all you need to do is load it into a text editor and save it off as the same name. In the file you'll find the Colony ship is the first ship you read. Change the Cost and Range fields to what ever you like and it'll affect everyone. However don't put the range down too far as the AI can't cope, -1 mi
Very true, also use them too your advantage. Get them to war with other Majors and when you see the time is right, strike. Your first strike doesn't need to be totally successful I'd have at least enough ships to take the few planets and be able to defend them. You decrease his ability to build ships and increase yours. I'm not sure but I've never seen a minor use transports either so those planets should be safe from invasion. If you find yourself losing after that try for peace,
Sorry guys for my lack of activity in the last couple of days (and for the next few). Have had to return to the planets under my dominion, seems with these troubled times my people need me.
