If you haven't tried this yet, it may help: use the slider control on the ship designer screen to resize components before you add them to the ship. You know, I was wondering what that was for at 2am last night.

I have reinstalled and updated my graphics drivers, but I am still getting a CTD on startup. Emailed another exception report.
It came up on irc last night just before he went home to crash.
Actually I just left the spending sliders alone and cranked up my tax rate to pay for colony ships. Didn't change government spending though. Does a high tax rate eat into research efficiency?
It seems to me that it takes a very long time to complete your first technology, but subsequent techs start to flow much more quickly. Does the first tech on each tree need to be made cheaper?
I noticed during my game last night that I could chuck out constructors at a terrific rate. In GC1 building a constructor was a very long process. What I'm wondering is, are construction modules too cheap at the moment?
I'm double clicking my desktop icon, my screen goes black for a moment (as it usually did) but then it CTD's. It's done this on every attempt today. The only difference I can think of is that last night I installed and played, but since I shut down and booted up today it has stopped working. I get the same problem when running through SDC. Think I need to reinstall! SmartException report has been emailed.
Sounds good to me.
Its been reported in this thread: Link
Yeah Boogiebac (stardock) says that the save function is just broken right now, a fix is on the way.
The next thing may be less of an issue once the tech points for starting a customised race are reduced but I noticed that I could select some techs say the sensor ones to sensor 6. I could then go back and remove the older sensor level ones and get refunded the points while still keeping sensor 6. Not sure if thats intentional or not.
Also, make sure the "Show pre-release versions" check box is checked. Its at the bottom of the screen on the games section.
I started a game as the humans, and decided my constructors were too slow. I upgraded the design with two Ion Drives, called it Constructor II and wrote in the description box somethng like "Twin Ion Drive enhancment". I started uilding those instead. I started another game with a custom race. I went to the starport screen and I saw my Constructor II design on the build list and the basic template constructor was no-where to be seen. It appears that by
Boogiebac is on IRC saying its a mistake. I felt like it was giving me half the tech tree, I wanted to stop picking techs!
Its go go go here in England That's England across the big wet thing, not some little town in the middle of texas or something.
A post I made has somehow vanished. Anyway I asked how come it wasn't available for download as of 5:31p.m. EST and I was told to "cut them some slack". Like it was my fault or something. Here's whay I say to that: If you're not going to have it ready on time it would be professional to tell us about it. Don't post a date and time if you
Want To Fly. ofc.
That's geography for you! Lucky for me I'm nocturnal and work nights.
Ahh! Another one of these threads! GC2 Beta3 is due out any time.....in the next hour! Just be patient and hop onto chat through SDC and ask questions if its not showing up yet. Hopefully someone will know what the problem is (once its out ofc).
The thing that bothers me a bit is that restricting fleet sizes restricts the concept of swarm warfare, where you build cheap puny ships in vast numbers to mug the opposition's big expensive ship. It will need some balancing I think. Fortunately, if an empire has focused on high power ships they wont have been able to research larger fleet techs to the same level as an empire that has gone for quantity over quality. In theory anyway. I do agree that a gam
What so I crashed out and couldnt tell? Ok I'm even more baffled.
I think you want this: Link
I was sitting in channels all day (about 12hrs from login to log out) and didnt see anything happen. I'm not too sure what went wrong but I think there has been a break down in communication on this one.
GC2 already has a logisics system (its planned at least, I think its in place) which limits the numbrr of ships you can have in your empire. Astax's suggestion is to restrict how many ships can be formed into a fleet.
