The Master Of Orion series is the granddaddy of the TBS 4x genre. MOO1 came out around 1993, MOO2 I'd guess 1995 area. They are both classics. MOO3 was spat out about 3 years ago and failed. It had a huge number of pre-orders, came out a year late and it just failed on so many fronts. Basically it tried to do far too much and lost its way somewhere in development so ended up a mess. I think the developers are no more, but even if they did survive MOO4 will never happen as the confidence i

It could be balancing, but its equally valid to say that you are supposed to add more smaller drives to increase movement rather than using a single more powerful drive. So the earlier techs at least give you more compact/cheaper drives which give the same output.

The problem with the Moo series "prefered planet type" system was that it makes finding the right worlds complicated. "Hmm I'm surrounded by volcanic worlds and my morale/growth rate sucks on them, so I'll have to turn over big chunks of tiles to make cultural buildings, so the colony will suck but hopefully not rebel." Or "I'm at war with the Yor but all their colonies are poisonous atmosphere, I'm going to have a nightmare taking and holding their colonies, b

Umm..think you've lost me a bit. You colonise a new world, which starts with just a colony hub. You then build a spaceport, which gives you ship production abilities. You seem to be saying that you somehow 'lose' the spaceport? I really don't follow.

Slightly off topic, but is the UI going to change with youe alignment like GC1 did? I always liked the evil UI. Back on topic, including the approval rating might not be a bad idea. It looks like it could fit in to the right of pop/treasury by cutting that box down a bit.

NIce idea This would also give some advantage to the empire with more ships but not enough troops to launch invasions. While waiting to prepare an army the fleet is making itself useful in blockade enemy worlds. Blockades could also put pressure on the opponent to seek peace, say if I wanted to end my war with the Torians without destroying them, I could blockade their systems. This should also have an impact on trade,

This was brought up in another thread, but yeah I agree it would be good if the map showed star locations. Either than or the mini-map stops showing star locations, but I think I'd rather see them.

There was reports of invisible ships in beta2 (maybe beta1), but no-one has mentioned it in awhile. Stardock might like a save game of this.

Remember that morale isn't really implemented yet, but it will be. Lowa11, are you aware that this exact concept was discussed months ago? If not I'm amazed that you hit on the exact same thing! It's something I'd love to see done, I have no idea if its likely or not. Edit: found the old thread Link

Stardock don't seem to be concerned about pacing right now, more about the features and compatability. Beta 4 is when we really hammer out the pacing issues judging by Stardock comments. I completely agree with you though, at the moment the game is playing out just far too rapidly in my opinion.

Good idea, some sort of 'neutral' star graphic to show location in unexplored space would be handy. It makes sense that we would know where stars are but for gameplay not tell us what the stars are or what is in orbit. It would make play less awkward I think.

More and more people are starting to post unrelated things in bug report threads, so it sounds like alot of people haven't read Stardock's thread about bug reports. Follow the link below for the official thread. Link If you are raising a new point remember to start a new and clearly named thread, otherwise your comments will be hard to find for Stardock staff to read and refer to. With the sheer volum

The componet Basic Support What is that componet for anyways? it seems that the constructor comes with it! and you should be able to make Mini-Ships IE:like sensor drones small so you can make other types of small ships... Do you mean Basic life support? It extends the maximum range of the ship, add one or more of those to a design and the shi

I have a different bug which has persisted in the Beta 3 release and patch: After colonizing a planet I get 3 choices one evil, which gives biggest bonus ,in this case starship bonus, one good, and one neutral. There is no method to choose between them. The mouse pointer does not do the job. So I am stuck there and have to alt esc and then close the game.

I have yet to see a yellow tile on a class 10 or less planet. I think the lowest class I have seen them may have been a class 13. Which is odd as low quality planets are the one in most need of terraforming.
