The same image being displayed differently on 2 pieces of software on the same monitor points to the software. If it were (just) the monitor the images would be displayed the same. I'd guess Yrgal is on the right track.

I think it would be helpful to update the "Create a new skin" template to essentially replicate Win10. I say this because one of the most frustrating parts of creating a new skin is you have to track down everything or else you have Diamond popping up here and there. One of the big joys of Curtains is that a person can have a very decent skin by just making a few changes, it would probably be helpful to replicate that approach to some degree with SkinStudio so that any

I'm not sure there's really a "best". Mainly I'd go sort of in the mid-range in terms of brightness for re-coloring, unless you absolutely like bright or dark. The best thing to do might be to pick a color that you might want to use often, then just make a taskbar in that color and see if it recolors the way you want it to within WB.

As far as I know there is no way to do what you're asking. I'd suggest that you might look closely at the re-coloring options within the WB "modify style" page, there are a few settings in there which can yield different results as opposed to just clicking on a color tile. Other than brightness, it all is based on hue-shifting though, the skin does need to have color in it.

For what it's worth those shadows did look great though. They did cause a couple of problems. The line between "personal preference" and "something that should be fixed" is sometimes blurry to me. [e digicons];)[/e]
Yes, he put some "Big, Really Big" shadows around the window frames. They're in the frame images, you'd have to crop them out and adjust all the related margins and positioning.

Sat here and played for a minute. As far as the arrow being dark or light, that seems to be driven automatically by the system color "Menu". That system color in a darker range generates the light arrow, in a lighter range it generates the dark arrow.
All I can tell you is I have a note in my notes that "It can't be skinned." I put a definitive "can't" in there when a reliable source says it, so that I don't keep looking for it. Don't know who the source was (you're on the short list of course). Hopefully I'm wrong.
The way I found to start from scratch is to click on the Windows 10 (default) skin, then click on the edit icon at the left. Then it prompts you to enter your theme name, etc.
