the only people screwed by this are those who know just enough to play blocking or modding stuff but not enough to know how to fix things.
"Checking for updates" is not blocking or modding stuff. It also isn't volunteering to test updates which are less tested than what they're pushing down. Anyone who wants to test can be on the insider ring.
In Microsoft’s world, this makes you a “seeker” who wants to test these updates before most Windows users get them.
And here I thought I was just avoiding unexpected update reboots. I feel so... "dirty". [e digicons];P[/e] Thanks for that bit of (convoluted) trivia Doc. [e digicons][/e]

Looks like at this point the only blur that the "Use Acrylic Blur.." setting affects is the taskbar. The window frames and start menu are using acrylic blur regardless of it being on or off. Bottom image is with it checked. Only thing that changes is the taskbar. <img src

There is a setting in Start10 that affects blur. You can only access it while you have the default Windows skin applied within WB. It's been awhile and a few versions of Win10 and WB since I played with it, but at that point I decided I wanted "Use Acrylic Blur..." unchecked. It does (did?) affect the blur within WB, and I think it may have also impacted transparency or the ability to adjust transparency within WB. It might be worth checking. There is also a "Transpare
I restarted and got a black screen. I had to login twice to get to the desktop.
Did you log in as a Standard (Non-Admin) user or an Admin user? I had been experiencing that occasionally after updates. After trying a couple of different things, I think I may be avoiding it by logging in as an Admin user immediately after an update (I normally log in as Standard). It's a little tough to
the stated rationale for 2 versions a year
Thanks for passing that along. It doesn't change my opinion though. Way too much thrashing about on my machine twice a year, for what I perceive to be very little real benefit (as opposed to the occasional Service Pack release method.) It seems like they're creating a lot of work, everywhere, needlessly.
