when you set the transparency to zero you can still click on the dock. What you are probably running into is that you don't know where the edge of the dock is to click on it and open the config menu. I suggest right clicking all over the place over the dock until you can get the menu to pop up that allows you to change stuff on it. at least it was like this the last time I used it. I don't think its been updated since then.

yes and no. each distribution of linux varies a couple of things, but many things stay the same. every distribution has a linux kernel. most have the latest stable one. I think it is 2.4.24. Some have older and some have the bleeding edge ones (2.6.x or 2.5.x). most distribution that you will use wil have the xsystem, desktop managers, and window managers. these are not centric to any real distribution, but some have modded theirs a little to make it work better. The real difference come

linux is a completely different os, you can run it on the same computer, but on a different partition. You cannot natively run windows applications with it, but there is a program that will somewhat emulate it. However I suggest you get new apps for it since 99% of them are free.

It all depends on what you want to do. I suggest you try a live cd like knoppix to see what it look and feels like. with that you don't even have to install anything. If you like then you have the option of many different distrobutions of linux. I suggest starting out with something easy like mandrake or fedora. then once you get the hang of it move to something a little better. I use slackware and I find it to be much better than mandrake in terms of speed, stability and ease of use. how

There are several other linux distrobutions like this, but Knoppix is certainly one of the slickest. I prefer slax because it is only 180 megs big so it is a very quick download and burn.

I can do what I want as long as I stay within the bounds. I have complained for a while about it. and besides I should support my view. If you are concerned about quality ship it as png or tif. But you can make jpgs look just as good as bmps. They don't loose quality over time. They lose quality every time they are saved. Since most people don't open up the wall and edit and save it the quality of the jpg won't decrea

Look at the file size. where they are bmps usually the filesize is upwards of 5 megs with one or 2 walls. most people don't want to download that and it takes a big knock off the old 50 if they aren't buying anything. then look at jpgs. the biggest one of those I have seen was 1 meg and it had around 9 wallpapers in it. If you have a good program you can set the jpg optimization so it looks just as good as a bmp. [Message Edited]

I am pretty sure that you need to make them. There are very few and those either follow an iconset or a visual style (msstyle or windowblinds). these are scattered out all over the net. If you are making a skin to submit, you really ought to make your own. if you aren't, download skins from here that have them and you can change them without changing the windowblind through the config.

no problem. 1)make the png (the animation). animations are made in frames. each object in dx will only take one image and no animation files like avi (I think gif will work but I am not sure). so to facilitate images in dx, it can divides a single png into frames. if you have a 200x100 png and set the number of frames to 2 you will have 2 100x100 frames. So if you want an animation with 8 frames each of the size 50x50 you would make a png with the size 400x50. The trick to this is to m
