Word of warning to folks with installed mods. If it's not in one of these countless Entrenchment threads, make sure you remove the mod before trying to launch Entrenchment. The auto-load settings for mods were causing me to go to a permanent black screen when running it. I deleted the data inside the Mods folder and removed the modname line from my user settings file and it opened right up. Just figured it might save some

Uuhhh, putting copies of system DLLs in an app's directory is a really, really bad idea, unless you take ALL of those DLLs. Otherwise => DLL VERSION HELL, something the windows method of doing shared libraries is (in)famous for, and that always gets a laugh among the unix crowd.

Reinstalled twice...preordered through imulse and everything happened automatically.
on XP/2000, install DirectX Redistributable (November 2008) Always amazes me how many people who otherwise keep up on drivers forget to keep up on DX9 updates.
Where can you find it? I've just paid for it and installed the latest patch, but there's nothing there.
Considerng they said it might take several hours to process all preorders, and they're doing it first-come-first-served, I'd get nice and calm and settle in for a bit of a wait. I'm sure it'll be worth it :)
Now, how EXACTLY do I go about "backing it up" and making both versions playable? Any chance of some plain English step by step guide? Step 1: Open Windows Explorer. Step 2: Navigate to your Sins installation. Step 3: Click the Sins of a Solar Empire folder. Step 4: Hit CTRL+C Step 5: Navigate to where you want your backup to be. Step 6: Hit CTRL+V You're done

I haven't had as much time for sins as I'd like recently - EVE taking over my life again, halp halp - but I've given this one a go. Not played enough for any detailed analysis, but I'd say the gameplay changes are good fun. Also, good call on the merging of those popular effects and graphics mods, everyone likes the shiney. Keep polishing it and balancing it, and you've got the potential to make it a classic :)

I'll be interested to see how you manage to make capitas work without breaking the AI - they're so widly different in price and abilities, either they'l looking nothing like, or the AI will only ever build the cheapest. I've been thinking about that for a month or so, and the only solution I came up with was to implement battleships a capitals, which is hardly satisfactory :3 Also - cap industrials? what would you do with a rorqual in Sins?
This is just a quick visual overhaul (took me two days to do it, which is quite fast, at least for me), the scout remains the same; tiny, well armored and shielded, slower than scout average, armed only with a short-range charge weapon which is practically useless for anything but frying fighters which come too close. And how often does that happen.
Probably fairly often in entrenchment. And do you mean trilobites?
