I dont like being the microft basher du jour, but ... I should point out - for the sake of fairness - that looking at the main consumer operating systems, its only Windows (and only consumer/workstation versions of it) that has issues with 4GB+ total ram on 32-bit. Macs have been on 64-bit for a while now, ofc. Linux, can work with up to 64GB of ram on 32-bit. Although PAE is necessary for a process to be able to access an address range greater than 4GB, most things th

Aye. Think of them as Rapid Response Teams :)

Only a couple of hings to add: You might wanna make your first cap the coloniser ship. If you don't, you'll be wasting fleet and resources on 2 colony frigates. You'll need 2 to replace a colonising cap because they have abysmal AM regeneration. If you choose not to make your first cap the coloniser, you'll probably want the full-on battleship. You'll lose early-game expansion speed advantage for mid-game firepower (your combat cap will be at a higher level). Whi

Only remotely via SSH and very briefly - a friend of mine pickup an old (10yrs+) SGI box and I had a look around inside. And yes SGI boxes are very expensive. As to the processor, MIPS > Itanic, obviously :P
Nah, its normal - ships with frigateRoleType "AntiFighter" statCountType "FrigateAntiFighter" don't auto-join fleets, even though their entity has autoJoinFleetDefault set to TRUE. Its bloody annoying, but nothing new.
The thing is right ... I use linux regularly, and I use the windows port of the *NIX window manager BlackBox on windows ... and they both have multiple desktops ... and I hardly ever use them. Sometimes (very rarely) on Linux, when I'm coding something for a project, I find it useful to have Emacs open on one screen, XChat open on another, and the references on a third, but this only happens when I'm working with an interpreted language like LISP or python and I have so many files and
I think IRIX hasnt been named yet. Its the SGI *NIX, loosely BSD-ish.
Yup. entity files are very sensitive to things like that - using plain text without a markup language of some sort usually means that. If it had been up to me I'd have used YAML, but I'm sure there was a good reason for the decision - probably memory use when using text entity files.

The simplest way of saying it is: you cant. 1.09 adds the capability of making ability activation cost resources. In 1.05, that's simply not possible.

Ah, punctuation, how I miss thee.
I havent looked THAT hard at the abilities system, but I get the feeling a true viral ability is not possible - i dont think you can grant units 1-time abilities as part of an ability effect. You might (note the italics) be able to simulate it, by making the "viral marketing campaign" take over 1 ship, and then choose its next ships from those close to the 1st target, and so forth ... and I'm not so sure about that.
Eh... maybe I'm too old for this, but I still prefer the pfhor to the covenant.
I'm sure ManSh00ter can make them hit even harder than IC starbases - what's been said about Titans proves that. Having to be built at capital bays and flown into position should be possible, and even switching to starbase mode once flown in like Advent trade ports switch to resource mode. The mutually exclusive upgrade paths, however, probably won't be possible unless you already have Entrenchment. I don't mind either way - I could wear a leather jacket with "Born to

Aye, they tend to stick to the cheapest ships - seems the AI is tuned to Sins costs, and that makes it consider even the cheaper SoA 2 cruisers prohobitively expensive. Since they all have the same role, it just stick to the cheapest unit. In all honestly, SoA 2 ships are extremely expensive, compared to Sins ships. It would be fine, except that roid mining rates are unchanged, which makes, for example, starting as a Romulan is incredibly painful, with the cheapest combat ship

Changed it to light, changed defiants to focusfire as well - its all good :)
