My wife and I found a Pingu video for the first time (in America) at a Wal-Mart. It was in the bargain bin. We were really happy to find it because we used to watch it on video when we lived in Japan. We knew that our baby would like to see Pingu. I wonder why Pingu never really caught on in America. Maybe Americans like their cartoon characters to speak. (Remember when there was an incarnation of the Pink Panther that spoke? Yuck!)

I used to watch the White Sox on WGN, but those announcers drive me nuts. It is okay to be "homers", but those guys take it way too far. (Maybe they've gotten better since the last time I saw them in about 1992...) You know which announce team I miss? Vin Scully and Joe Garagiola doing Saturday afternoon games on NBC. Those guys were the ones who originally got me interested in baseball.

In Japan, English words and phrases are used decoratively on clothing, packaging, and other things. Frequently the English that is used it a bit awkward. (I believe that this is intentional.) The use of over-prosaic, colorful, nonsensical, and oftentimes funny English is an underappreciated artform in Japan. The best source of "strange English" is children's clothing. This is interesting. The only exposure I get to the White Sox is the 15-20 times that they play the Twins each year. I was so happy when I found out that Valentin was gone. That guy was a major impact player in each Twins/ White Sox game I saw.

That will leave Vonzell, Carrie, Constantine and Bo as the top four. And I say, Bo and Constantine will be duking it out. Although I love Vonzell, I don't think she stands a chance to win this one. I hope I'm proven wrong and it will be between she and Bo! (fingers crossed ! ) I would dig a Vonzell/ Bo final. They're my favorite two.&nbs

I was at the gym when this song's music video came on the television. (I didn't have my radio tuned to the station that carries MTV, so I didn't actually hear the song.) The video however is definitely appealing to the eye. I look forward to hearing the song some time. Apparently there are marching drum sounds. I like martial music. (Like Adam Ant.)

Once he started performing songs, he turned out to be a little less-than-advertised. If a segment of fans takes a particular contestant to heart (in this case Constantine found a following early), they'll vote for him and keep voting for him. Click here for my latest article It is nice as the competition winds down, because I have fewer contestants to write about. Having fewer contestants also means better performances, as the figurative fat has been trimmed from the competition. Tonight's show, featuring 1970s dance music turned out really nicely. The contestants as a group performed as well as I have seen them since the first "big stage" show.

As I write this I am watching the Twins/ White Sox game on television. Tonight's game is the fourth between the two teams this year. Early on, the White Sox lead the season series 2-1. This year's Sox team is said to be built on speed and defense more than previous teams. There has been a big turnover of personnel, and so far it seems that it is paying off.
