I think that it is a "dirty trick" too, so I am (in a way) hoping for a rebuttal. It would (in a sense) restore some faith in the system. Please read-into my itallics in the word: "some."

I was just listening to a broadcast of a Canadian Broadcasting Company feature on a voter-registration group called "America Votes." America Votes is a group (supported by Democratic-party aligned folks) who supports -non corrupt- voter registration drives. Now here is where it gets interesting... In certain "swing" states, an entity referring to itself as "America Votes" (albeit falsely) has been holding registration drives, yet has been discarding registrations of re

The title is reassuring, but who knows what will happen. Anyone who protested about Gore's non-election on the basis of winning the popular vote is wrong. The relevent reason for discord would be the fuzzy results in Florida. I think that would be worthy of protest. If irregularities in any state lead to Bush's re-election or Kerry's election this time out, it would make sense for the "losing" side to protest.

What is anpan? Anpan is breaded sweet bean paste. It is like a doughnut with a bean filling. It is a yummy pastry treat. What is anpanman's super power Anpanman can fl

Good God. Luckily I wasn't drinking coffee when I read the headline. I would have done a spit-take on my computer screen. Now that I have read further, I see that he would want to play a James Bond-like character. That's fine. Now I wonder who the next James Bond is going to be?

Right Rob. Let me expand a bit on all of that, but in a little bit of a different direction. I posted something like this on another blog, and I think that it is worthy of repeating: Kerry misspoke in a way when -in last night's debate- he claimed that Bush had never met with the Senate Black Caucus. Sadly for Kerry, the word that he left out was "willingly." Apparently -as a result of being rebuffed- the caucus got on a bus and showed up uninvited to

I would think so too, but we don't have anko or anpan here. (I don't think that Americans would like it.) Maybe we could call him: "Jelly doughnut man." +++On a similar note: I really wish that we had Curry-pan here. That is one of my favorites!

Anpanman is a much-loved Japanese super hero. His target audience is children under the age of five. In Japan, one can find all sorts of consumer goods featuring his image. Due to the number of goods, I'd bet that Anpanman products are the number one-selling licensed childrens' merchandise in Japan. (Anpanman is up there with Doraemon and Hello Kitty.)</E

As soon as the Yankees made it into the ALCS I lost all interest in baseball until next year. From here on out, who cares? The Yankees won the Royals, Tigers, Twins, Devil Rays, Orioles, Blue Jays, insert non-purchased team here didn't. Of course if you live in New York or Boston it has to be fun. I wish I lived in a National League town.

As far as I had heard, the black caucus had been trying to set up a meeting with Bush. Apparently they weren't being scheduled, so Bush saw them when they came over uninvited. The question about whether Bush had met with the NAACP seemed to have however drifted into the ether...

I have just finished watching the third presidential debate. The recent messages posted on JoeUser are awarding the third debate to Bush. (The declaration of victory may be a bit tepid, but it is there.) I don't know... if you are a conservative idealogue, Bush probably hit all of your bullet points. He also didn't embarass himself. I suppose that's good news. He didn't pull off a stunningly good debate ala Ronald Reagan or Bill Clinton. He did ok

Here's a riddle for you: Q: Why did the president wear suspenders? A: To hold his pants up. (If Bush had cheated, I'd like to think he would have fared better in the debate.)

I was a big fan of the television show The Practice . Even though it was regularily manipulative, I enjoyed "taking the ride" each Sunday night. Chicago Hope and Ally McBeal were really also fun David E. Kelley shows. I even liked that show about the three young women lawyers (with "Claire" from Beverly Hills 90210 in it.) Even though that show bombed out after two episodes. Last week I was pretty stoked for the spino

Sounds good to me. I'd vote for you if you were running. However: I think that to be successful, you'll have to pigheadedly support an indefensible position. That'll show that you're unwavering amidst fierce opposition. We like that kind of "leadership" here. That's one reason why everyone loves Americans abroad. We know what is right, and everyone gets to hear about it (they even have a chance of understanding if they can comprehend English.

I just finished watch the Yankees hand it to the Twins for the second year in a row. Hopefully that rat-bastard team gets beat by the Red Sox. I can imagine that it must be terribly discouraging for other American League East teams to have to go to work every day of the season knowing that they'll have to face a team that insists on purchasing division championships year-after-year, rather than working to develop its own talent. How would you like to be a player for, or

Ever since my wife and I moved back to Minnesota in 2001, we have made a point of it to make an annual visit to Sever's Corn Maze in Shakopee, MN. We always enjoy our time there. Besides autumn-themed food, people can enjoy: a petting zoo, a pumpkin launcher, piglet races, and a trip through a big maze in a corn field. It is really a lot of fun! A new attraction this year was giant "sandboxes" filled with dry feed-corn.&n

Bush is a lightweight speaker. That's no surprise. He had an advantage over Gore, because Bush seemed more personable. Bush has a hard tome getting that "personability" to transfer to a defense of his record. Regardless of how strongly he believes in what he (Bush) does, he has a hard time putting it into words. He's a dogmatist rather than an orator. That's what Americans voted for.

I liked that "Kennedy" line. Maybe it shows now more than ever that Bush is living in the past. Most of all, it just shows that he has a little problem with turning a phrase. I won't touch on the misconjugated verbs, as I often do that in spoken speech as well. Neither of these two are as good in a "town hall"-style debate as Clinton was.

Once the season starts, click here to read my most recent blog! (Top of page ) Yesterday in the newspaper, I read that American Idol will start its fourth season in January. How exciting! I look forward to the Tuesday and Wednesday night "appointment television" that AI provides. This year the age limit will be raised, thus leading to (hopefully) older and better performers. (And who isn't still bur

Today my school pictures came back. I had them taken two weeks ago. My hair is crazy!! Kyaaaagh! I still haven't been to the barber since then. I have to get a haircut! It stinks because in the year that my family has been living in Monticello, I have yet to find a barber that I trust.

I think that homegrown comedian Fancy Ray does a commercial for Sexworld in Minneapolis. I love the Conan O'Brien show. Just yesterday I was wondering whether we'll ever see the masturbating bear, Camel Toe Annie, or Preparation H Raymond once Conan takes over the Tonight Show. Get a satellite dish. You can watch lots of shows in Spanish.
