Realistically your machine is too low spec to run much in the way of Window's customisation stuff. I know that's not what you wanted to hear but IMHO I think it's true. My system doesn't like the combination of ObjectDock and CursorXP. I've had a quick look at the processes as the cursor moves over the dock and the former seems to be constantly allocating and de-allocating fairly large chunks of memory (several Mb). It was a bit tongue in cheek - I have nothing against Linux, just have no use for it myself. But it's hard to argue with the point that full C++ (or whatever) source code will be easier to exploit than a disassembly listing. I've made a bit of headway today. Here's something I've kludged together. Please read all the comments. Pay particular regard to the two multipliers 32 and 1024, the raw data supplied by the WMI interface needs to be multiplied by these values to generate the total bytes received and sent. I think it's accurate tho am not 100% sure. The problem is that these numbers are liable to be different on different systems, and I don't know how to find out what they are on a per system b

That attachment is the MyDoom virus, if you've opened it (in Windows) then you are almost certainly infected. I've been asking myself the same questions. I also tried installing something called 'Network Monitor' that's meant to be an extra on the WinXP disk, but have no idea if it installed or not - there's certainly nothing new in the PDH listings. DesktopX itself (in developer mode) is used to create the objects themselves - that's the standard one you buy, no need to get the Pro version. It's a neat system. A theme is just a collection of objects packaged together. regards, Jerry
How does the level system work? With particular regard to the various prefixes (Citizen, Skinner, Admin etc.) that's displayed by people's names? Why do some people of obviously different levels have no prefix at all? regards, Jerry
I'm not surprised there've been no answers to this after doing a bit of research into it. The short answer is yes - but anything is possible. From a relative newcomer to these boards I can say that it'd be useful if the different sections had clearly defined descriptions. To me, as a recent buyer of Object Desktop and thereby the SDC, I'd wrongly assumed that this message board was for Stardock products. Longtime readers and posters no doubt find that foolish but there's no clear distinction between Stardock and WinCustomise to a new user's eyes. What is that user to make of three sections labelled WC-General, WC-Help and WC

However, there's a simple way to stop the mouseover text problem when using a text layer - go to the text layer's properties and set Activation to 'none' on the Relation tab page. Yes people use a wide range of apps, but there's a central core that could be covered reasonably easily (the artistic endeavour required excepted). It certainly doesn't seem to stop Objectdock or many of the DesktopX theme icon artists from providing application icons. If Iconpackager had a section for apps then it would encourage the icon artists to create icons for it. One definite advantage being that you could get your app icons in the same style as your favourite IP sets. Another
In Iconpackager there's no section for executables, ie icons for your apps. Am I missing something very basic or is there a reason for this? I'd much rather have nice app icons to put in my toolbars (and so on) than many of the other areas that are covered by IP. You're welcome. It also makes "view source" work again, and allows the saving of web pics as jpegs (both in IE) - why this is, I don't know.
There were spurious external server errors (when using IE to download you can see the error message on the title bar) around the time you posted. I was only managing to download around 50% of the time. Try deleting your temporary internet files - it worked for me. IE > Tools > Internet Options > General > delete files I didn't need to delete my cookies. hth, Jerry
