Well, this weekend was boringly eventful, replete with Karoke at the Moose Lodge on Friday nite, Girl Scouts singing at a nursing home on Saturday, Boy Scout Flag retirement ceremony on Sunday, and rental house repairs on Monday. Friday night I convinced my wife to tolerate my crooning at the Moose Lodge, did my best to honor Sinatra with "My Way", Lefty Frizzell with "You got the Money Honey", David Lee Roth with " Gigalo ", and of course Elvis with " American Trilogy ". The Moose aff

I highly reccomend listening to Jimmy Buffet " God's own drunk", it's on the old "You had to be there" Live Album, a very funny account of drinkin' and wildlife......

I rent a small house just down the street to my oldest sons girlfriend. She's a nurse and works nights, and last night her house was broken into. I was sitting in the cold ass den, watching Jepardy when my son rushes in and tells me that someone had beat the door down at her house. He had just returned from school that evening... So, I grab my trusty 2nd ammendment right and hustle 3 doors down to see if there is anybody interested in a game of catch, no takers found, I assess the sit

It could happen, but civil war within the US? There is not one group in the US that I could see with the ability or the desire to attempt an overthrow. Any group with enough financial capability to do so would refrain just to protect the capital they have. There is no one socio-economic group organized enough, or cooperative enough to band togather. Plus, I'm sure the Fortune 500 would mass enough mercenairies to quell any threat to the economy.

Historically Christmas was never a "Mega-Mass Holiday", this holiday had to wait for mass communications and advertising schemes to be the free market free- for- all that it is today. Truly in the religious sense, Easter was the major celebration, followed by Halloween ( as told to me by the local Catholic layperson/ insurance agent ) Christmas has just been adopted by the same type of hucksters that created mothers day and fathers day.

I experienced a similar problem with one of the "links" ISPs. I never had an account with them but they bought out the little prepaid service I utilized. After the pre-paid service term ended, and I signed on with a different ISP, I began receiving this huge bill from the "link", I ignored that and then began to get nasty collection calls. Finally I explained that I never contracted for their service and notified them they they could only contact me by mail, and to never call me again. No ca

Wife just walked in, saw me with head buried in monitor, went directly to kitchen and began slamming pots and pans. Her work has not been the smoothest as of late so I ask how her day was, as she drops dishes being unloaded from dishwasher( that I loaded and even turned on, with soap ) "Don't talk to me!" What did I do? Now, should I continue to pry, or resolve that it's my fault ( it is cold and rainy ) and go back to my computer ( which is probably what produced the ire initially)

As to the issue of Iran being the next target in the war on terror; You think it might be more than a coincidence that Iraq and Afganistan border that country? Not much of a problem getting fly-over and basing permission when you control the border countries. I believe Iranian moderates are hard at work developing a plan to oust the fundamentalist clerics that have seized control of their country, and put them at risk of "Americanization". Just as the house of Saud has slowly co

I prefer Carribean Poker, good ol 5 card stud, with the mix of the dealer having to have a Jack or better to open. Odds are as good as BJ on the dealer no qualifing, and at least meeting your ante. Black Jack is a game on a roll, where depending on where in the shoe you start, is where you start winning or losing, unless the house lets others come in mid-shoe and then you are screwed..... Won a lot at Carribean poker, won a lot on a controlled BJ table, lost my ass on an open table of BJ

Children, no matter the age or gender, are an agrivaiting blessing to say the least. It doesn't help matters when I have 5 to contend with. My oldest son ( 23 yr old ) is by far the worst example of my parenting skills. Until we closed the store in 2001, he had never worked for anyone but me( let's revise that to say he had never collected a paycheck from anyone other than me, work seems too strong of a word.....) He has since discovered that employers want labor in exchange for pay, and wit

OK, I realize the web is clogged with liberal thought, but what did W actually do to raise so much personal disdain? Is it that those that hate our prez so passionately truly long for the return of "Slick Willy"? Is it a desire to dream about what a Gore Administration would have done in the wake of 9/11 ? Perhaps the dream of a Dean / Edwards ticket gets them warm at night ? Or, maybe the fantastic economic indicators that have been released as of late, ris

I'm me. Over 40, previously self-employeed, now forced into an unfunded retirement by situations that I feel were beyond my control. I am on the way to re-education, on-line schooling and looking for my next path to follow. I take a conservative, prior military, pro-choice, school voucher, states rights view of politics. ( William Jennings Bryan- ish ) I question the rationality of ORGANIZED religion, and truly believe in the Scout Oath and Law. I can trace decendants to 17th cen

Everyone needs a windmill to tilt at, references to gods tend to take the masses attention away from what the master is really up to..............I find the straight path of Islam as the perfect example of mass misdirection, you think?

I bought this house last January, stole it out of foreclosure for 25% of tax value, just like the Real Estate Guru teaches. I put doulble that back into the renovation, and supposedly made 65k in equity..... Now I live here, last month an old water line burst in an interior wall, we thought it was the toilet so we tear up the new tile in the upstairs bath, no leak. Then we tear out a portion of the downstairs bath ceiling, no leak. Then we proceed to tear out the wall in the down stairs

I watched my 8 year old do more on my computer the other day than I could do a year ago, I played a mean game of spider solitare then, but she made personalized Christmas Cards in 20 minutes. I can't do that. I don't like being left behind, for 20 years I felt I was an inovator in my field, always stayed on the peak of any wave, made a point of staying informed and educated ( god how I hated continuing ed retreats, seems every time I crossed the Mississippi River freak weather patter
