I bought Ashes of the Singularity on GOG but have come to realize the shortcomings of owning it there. The multiplayer base is split between the two stores (not an even split either; most are on Steam) and I also have to wait longer for version updates. Right now I'm still waiting on v2.1 for Escalation two weeks after Steam already got it.

I came across a post made by Frogboy located at https://forums.ashesofthesingularity.com/480253/page/1/#3658709 which talks about letting users who register their game with Stardock being able to use either GOG or Steam to download the game. I love the idea and was hoping to find out if this is likely going to happen and
